My iPhone stops playing music when taking photos?!

GREAT! All we can do now is keep presssuring because if not they will continually lie to us (one genius called it a "hardware limitation" and gasped when I showed him that you can listen to music and take a photo during imessage with no problems)

I just wish that the great company that is apple wasnt so darn dumb when it comes to things like this. I mean, this is something that Steve would have simply not allowed. And neither should any of todays management allow HUGE BUGS LIKE THIS! 😮

Holy ****, I have this problem for a long time but didn't start solving it since the Google is blocked in China. Recently, I moved to States and eventually I found that I am not alone. Cool, so many friends have the same issue as me. Let's wait the 7, 7s, and iOS 10.

keep in mind, I can be on a phone call on speakerphone and take photos all day!!!!

but if I want to listen to music I cant take a darn photo! What a huge FAIL! Apple coding FAIL.

NO C-Level will answer about this and No major apple "news" website reports or pressures them on this.

Holy! This was the first thing i noted when i bought a ip6. in 2015, 18month ago!

and i said to myself **** off, they will fix it. i don't want to report every bug. im not part of apples quality assurance. i don't get money from apple. i pay every 1-2 years 800€ for a new device, that doesn't work as expected.

can't imagine we are the only one. how often we listen to music or podcast with headphones or a bluetooth box and want to take a picture?

i often think that apple developer don't use there own products.

btw. do you think apples accounting/management use numbers? 😁

Really? Are you launching the camera directly? My 6S+ still does it.

I sent in another bug report for what good that will do. The more time goes by, the more annoyed I am with this whole thing.

problem is definitely still present in 9.3.1. there have been no changes as far as I know and it would definitely be creepy if apple was able to update an OS native (read: not web-based) app without a software update. that's not a thing.

Try to press the block button until the shutoff slide appears. After that,

press during some seconds the home button.

This is something I did yesterday and perhaps could be the solution...

Anywho, I just updated with another bug report on the apple feedback page. There is a growing group of Apple Users in my local starbucks who are rallying around the cry. I try to tell everyone about it .

I was told by Apple Care that we should report it as a BUG REPORT , since it works fine on imessages app but not on the Camera App...

somebody behind (Camera coders?) better get paddled after all this is said and done. Cheers everyone!

It is May 3rd 2016 and the music still shuts off when the camera app is opened. Doesn't matter whether live photos is enabled or not. My solution is to use a 3rd party camera app while taking photos. The music stays on for the 3rd party cameras. I actually use ProCamera +HDR as my default camera.

When I saw the IOS 9.3.2 update show up, there was a glimmer of hope that this might finally be fixed. Nope! Audio stops when you launch the camera same as before.

This has me just furious that after all this time, Apple has yet to address this problem.

Work around found for taking photos! <And I'm using a 6s on 9.3.2> I downloaded the ProCamera App from the App store - yes it's $5 but it works. When you run the app for the first time iOS will ask to allow ProCamera have access to location, Camera and Microphone. Location doesn't matter, but choose yes to camera and microphone. Once the app is on, quit the app and go to your settings / privacy / microphone / You will see that ProCamera is selected. Switch it to OFF. You're done. ProCamera will take photos while music still plays either on headphones or bluetooth! Probably you could select No to allow acces to mic when first running the app but I didn't try that. Unfortunately, it still won't take video without muting music.

I wanted to use my iPhone as a dash cam while driving but playing music via bluetooth. So now I'm looking for a video app that does NOT request access to the microphone, and theoretically, that would work.

I can confirm that IOS 10 does in fact fix the broken camera. I am happy about this, but still very disappointed that it took over a year, and Apple support staff just shrugged when this is brought up. Kinda feel sorry for them. These decisions were made well above their pay grade. I'm looking at you Tim.

FINALLY. FIXED. Downloaded iOS 10, and finally, finally, FINALLY it is fixed. Opening camera app while playing audio does NOT mute audio.

My iPhone's usefulness has multiplied 100x with this fix!

My fellow iPhone users I have found a very solution to this problem, you don't need any fancy apps just open your camera using the Facebook app and it will record while playing music and the video will not be posted on facebook but it's will be saved on your device ..
