iPhone issues after iOS 9/9.0.1 update

Hello! I have been having multiple issues with my iPhone 5s after the iOS software updates. I will list the issues under whichever update I noticed they began.

iOS 9 Update

-Battery drain -- expected and not too terrible, but enough of a hindrance to have me charging the phone by 7 or 8 pm (I have already taken measures to stop this before the update. I have the screen brightness turned down, I have shut off many of my apps from refreshing in the background, I make sure all apps are completely closed out of, I have the screen lock set to 1 minute without activity, etc.)

-Missed Call notification issue -- I get a missed call, go to the call log to check it, close out of the call log, and the notification remains there. It takes multiple times of opening and closing the call log and/or flipping between the call log and my voicemail or contacts before the notification will go away. Very annoying!

-Text ringtone -- After the update, my texting ringtone does not always play. It is very hit or miss. I have to check my phone periodically just to make sure I am not missing incoming text messages because the tone does not play.

-Glitches -- phone seems overall more buggy after update, becomes slow and glitchy when going from one app to the other or closing out of all apps

-Touchscreen malfunctions -- trying to hang up on a call or use speakerphone is hit or miss because the touchscreen does not respond to my taps sometimes

iOS 9.0.1 Update

-Updated on its own -- I never updated to the new version on my own. My phone completely died and when it powered back on, the update had begun on its own. There was no way for me to close the update.

-Settings -- Every time my phone is shut off and turned back on, the Settings app automatically starts up. I have to make sure to immediately close out of the app after the phone has powered back on or else it will just keep running in the background.

-Many of the issues after the initial update remain such as battery drain, Missed Call notification, glitches when switching between apps or closing them, and touchscreen malfunctions.

Does anyone have any fixes for any of these problems or has anyone experienced the same ones?

Yes, I have sluggish problems with both ios 9 och 9.0.1 with both iPhone 5s 16GB and iPhone 6 64GB. Problems also in the Message app where I sometimes can't see what I'm typing.

Have been in contact with Apple Support and are waiting for their reply.

Here's my problems after iOS9 installation on my iPhone 6 128gb.

- Phone gets slower and the movement is breaking too often.

- Receiving call problem 1: I can't hear anything until change option to speaker phone.

- Receiving call problem with speaker phone: Caller voice is not normal. It changes caller's voice tone very very low so that I can't understand what they are saying.

Outgoing call works fine.

please fix this asap.

I have the same problem. I use white noise app overnight. Seems that the speaker is draining battery faster after ios9.

I am having all the above issues with both my iPhone 6 and my work 5C, as well as my iPads. Text tones are hit or miss, with no apparent rhyme or reason. They may or may not connect to my car. Freezing in multiple apps and not allowing me to close out of calls. Speakerphone may or may not work. Phone does not want to rotate images. Touchscreen is often unresponsive. I updated to 9.0.2 on my personal phone and it has not gotten any better.

I see a lot of questions, but no comments from Apple.

I'm having many of the same problems listed here (battery drain, glitches when switching apps, freezing up, apps crashing, screen doesn't rotate but keyboard does, etc...). I have an iPhone 5,

Is it possible to go back to a previous iOS version?

Update to original Bluetooth issue: I've found that if I have the phone running Bluetooth (for phone calls/Siri) and have it plugged into AUX for music, the bluetooth function just doesn't work properly even though when a call is made/answer and says "FordBT" on the phone. Sometimes while activating Siri through the car Bluetooth system, I have to cancel the first attempt if I don't hear the 'da-ding' noise before you can start talking. Whatever Apple did in the latest update(s) have messed up the Bluetooth functionality.

As for battery drain- I only leave my phone on Low Power Mode now, take it off charge at 100% and turn it on. Seems to be effective but you miss some notifications like emails.

Disabling wifi assist seems to have helped. Go to Settings > Cellular. The contents of this menu will depend on your carrier and the number of apps installed on your iPhone, but scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and you’ll see an entry for Wi-Fi Assist.

I've had my wifi assist turned off and the battery still drains. When I went to bed last nite my battery was at 80%, all the apps were closed, and this morning the battery was down to 19%.

Where is Apple Support on this????? Support...not!

Do you use your speaker overnight? I was using it for white noise app and had similar charging issue. So, got a bluetooth speaker and charging issues are solved.

Also, noticed App Store auto-download was using lots of battery so disabled it.

No, I don't use the phone for anything at nite and I make sure all of the apps are closed.

THx for the suggestion on the auto downloads. I turned that off and we will see if it helps.

when fully charged my phone used to stay at 100% for forever!

Having the issue of no sound with selected text messages (iMessage). Also I noticed the when I try to change the text tone, some do not play. This happens with some of my own downloaded and those native to iOs. No resolution yet.

I Canceled the auto download for the apps and it made no difference in the very short battery life!

Same here.

My iPhone 6 Plus seems to be hang after opening few apps and all of a sudden crashes. I wish I had not updated to IOS 9.0.1

same situation - iPhone 5s, very unstable using iOS 9.

Tried update to 9.0.2, tried reseting (using iPhone backups from iTunes).

And. unable to launch phone app, sometimes iPhone is restarting (white screen).

Apple do sth with this!

SolomonBrundy,

The texts not coming through is a feature of iOS9, it will not give notifications when your phone is face down (or it is not supposed to).

Your Battery life is also low because of the update, they did that on purpose. You should try to put it into battery saving mode(will get you around 2 extra hours of life).

The messaging glitch is something I have not yet experienced but will look for it.

The slow typing is because of either 1) you are in battery saving mode, or 2) your phone is having issues with the space.
