My iPhone 6s home button is really hot and the device won't turn on

i have had my phone since Friday, and this morning when I woke up the home button was burning hot and the screen is just black. I went to bed with it working just fine last night, plugged it in to charge, and now it won't work. Nothing else is hot, not even the charging port, just the home button is on fire. I have had the phone unplugged for an hour and the button is still on fire. I had just made the choice to switch from a Samsung to this iPhone and need to say it makes me slightly regret my choice because I have always known that apple products have tons of issues. I an not happy that I have had this phone for less than 5 days and this is happening. Anyways, is there anything i can do to fix it without having to go into the apple storeI did not finish setting up my iCloud, so to lose all of information because of a defective phone will not make me happy.

Take the phone back to where you bought the device. That is what warranties are for.

Hi, Thank you to everyone for posting how to fix this issue. I've had my phone for 6 months now, and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. I realized that since I do not have a house phone, that I would be unable to call anyone without their numbers.

I feel like I should go to the Apple store to have this phone replaced before the year is up. The cost of the phone should warrant a replacement if it is not working correctly. I had my blackberry for over 4 years without an issue, but everyone kept telling me I needed to get out of the dark ages and get an Iphone.

Has anyone else been able to get their phones replaced from Apple without a problem? I have the Iphone 6S Plus.

Thank you.

As long as the phone has not been dropped or exposed to liquid, there should be no problem. However, only Apple can tell you what Apple will do. But you should absolutely take the phone to Apple while you are still under warranty.

I had the same thing happen today but my phone overheated. I had it in my car with the sun roof down in the direct sun light while driving and realized when I got back to the office that it overheated so it shut down. I let it cool down for a while and went to try to start it up and noticed that the home button was hot while the rest of the phone was cool. I held down the home and power buttons and it started back up and no more problems.

Had exactly the same issue as a number of these posts. iPhone 6 S was not responding and thought power had drained, was at 50 % when used 10 min earlier. About hour later I Plugged in to charge it back up. No response from phone on charging, however after 5 min the home button was Red hot ! Thanks to these posts I followed the reset, and phone back on working, now down to 20 %. Clearly this is an issue as we can't all be having thos issue without some system glitch. Apple please investigate, before someone has a fire.

I experienced this today as well. Same thing. Non responsive home & power buttons, black screen, hot home button. Like most others, simply rebooting my phone by holding both buttons down until the logo came up fixed it. Quickly, I might add. By the time my phone rebooted, the temperature of the home button was already back to normal.

NO need to reply to my rhetorical question, Meg, but thank you. Knowledge of a warranty is cold comfort when one is considering that a major manufacturer creates defective product intentionally in order to pull a fast one on the public. I don't know if you work for Apple, or what, but please spare me your platitudes, especially in relation to my $650 piece of instant obsolecence. Thanks.

Why is the warranty "cold comfort"? If your device is covered by warranty, it will be replaced.
