El capitan not connect the sound card audio M fat track pro.what should I do?
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11)
It will work np because it's a class compliant usb device. I've been able to record 24 bit at various htz in Logic Pro X and various transcoding software. Have not had any instances of device failure to keep up.
The only thing you cannot do is use the S/PDIFF connections. They must be accessed by M-Audio drivers which are not supported after Yosemite. I have been told there is a P-list hack that will get around this. If anyone has that I'd be interested. The Fast Track Pro is running fine on Sierra as I type. Good Luck!! xoxo 🙂
inpulse's May 19, 2016 instructions worked for me. For Step 2 & 3, I had to use my administrator account and needed to use Finder instead of command lines in Terminal.
During Step 3, an error message to the effect of 'Driver was copied improperly. Contact manufacturer.' appeared, but in the end it still worked.
I haven't used my Fast Track Pro since I upgraded to El Capitan. Thank you for helping me revive my audio recording hardware!
WoW this thread has been going on for a while. I got replies today from posts over one year back. re: s/pdif ...I updated my computer at the end of 2016 ...tried to future proof as much as possible and went for a BTO 27" iMac. Upgraded EVERYTHING possible. 4GHz Intel i7 32GB AMD Radeon R9 M395X ...I knew everything was going to change in toward the end of 2017 ....and it did ...and this machine is still in the game...
The s/pdif issue I have since found out is from Logic Pro X ...I get a ground loop hum when the HD TV is connected to it's PVR which in turn goes into the Kenwood amp. The ground loop hum is not present now ...even with the TV on and connected ...not present in FCP X ....nor in iMovie ...ONLY in Logic Pro X.
What I have NOT tried is disconnecting the audio from the PVR to the amp. It seems that for whatever the reason it would be there that it can loop. The computer is on a UPS with simulated SINE Cheers ...xoxo 🙂
This is going to sound like a truly low-tech solution to your ground-loop problem—because it is. But it also works, at least it did for me. I was using the Fast Track Pro with an Alesis amp for recording an album and kept getting the ground-loop hum, and an engineer friend told me to go to any local hardware or big-box store and get a three-prong grounded to two-prong ungrounded adapter for the amp. Voila. No ground loop. YMMV.
When I power on the sound card in El Capitan it's as if it's not even connected to the computer at all. It's worked for years and across multiple OS X releases. It's my primary sound card and I'm pretty bummed as I'm sure many of us are.
Hello!
I just had the same problem...osx el capitan and m-audio fast track pro didn`t work.
Then i located with EASY FIND all the m-audio files, deleted them and restarted the computer.
And now it work really fine!
Glad to hear! What version of the USB driver did you reinstall after deleting everything with EasyFind? Did you have to do anything special with EasyFind or just delete the driver?
I was really ****** of after a week of searching...that`s why i tried it this way...i just typed m-audio in the search field and deletet everything!!!really everything! And i didn`t install any driver at all.Just plugged fast track to the computer and it was found.that`s it!hopwe it works for you too!
And in the audio-midi-setup you can control the sample rate and other stuff
This is NOT a fix... In the Audio Midi Setup all you can choose is 44100 Hz with Stream 1 and Stream 2. Yes it works.... but I listen to lossless music at 96000Hz and only a driver from M-Audio is going to fix this problem with El Capitan... Unless there is someone who knows of another fix... Yours is not it
That's a bit of a tough jab at a suggestion that is better than what you or the manufacturer suggested...especially if you heard audio. I tried what knockflakes offered and it didn't work for me but it's obviously given some people their music back.
It works for me. I just deleted the m-audio preferences panel on System Preferences and another thing called M-AudioFastTrackPro.kext (I don´t remember where it was). You might need to restart after that. It works everywhere except with Guitar rig (in this case the m-audio card shows but the sound does not come). But I can sitll use Guitar rig as an AU in Logic.
The part that baffles me is how it starts to work after removing all the related files. If there aren't any drivers or related software installed...how do you even select the Fast Track Pro as an option when choosing your speaker output? I deleted all the files, and the FTP was essentially nonexistent to my machine. Am I missing something? I'm glad you're hearing music but really disappointed that El Capitan has rendered my sound card useless.
Maybe try again installing the drivers and then deleting again. This is a VERY technical procedure.😉
Anyway, I searched again on my computer and found some more files related to the USB fastTrack pro card:
All of them in the User/library/:
/Preferences/com.avid.usb.fasttrackpro.firmwareupdater.plist
/ApplicationSupport/com.apple.sharedfilelist/com.apple.LLSharedFileList.Applicat ionRecentDocuments/com.avid.usb.fasttrackpro.firmwareupdater.savedState
/Application Support/com.avid.usb.fasttrackpro.firmwareupdater.sfl
/Application Support/Avid/M-Audio Fast Track Pro Firmware Updater
and the two ones that I mentioned in the previous post which I had kept in my desktop folder, (just in case I would need them again):
M-Audio Fast Track Pro.kext
M-Audio Fast Track Pro.prefPane
So I deleted everything and restarted. Still works fine. Fast Track Pro appears in my output and input options of the system, as well as in Logic, Audio Hijack and Guitar Rig (here it just shows and even captures the signal, but doesn't play any sound)
