In Numbers 3.0 is there a means to have a dark or heavier line every (5) lines for both the columns across and rows down?

Hi dtryon,
Just type your month in the center column and center it in the text tab. Remove the distracting borders in the cell tab.
You will have to select the five cells for each month.
To get the month to overlap the borders to the left and right the month label needs to be formatted as text with "wrap text in cell" unchecked.
You could get a similar efect with merging cells but that can cause difficulties later on.

Hi dtryon,
Do not be tempted to merge cells. You can create the illusion by playing with Format Panel > Cell > Border (outline, left, right, top, bottom, inside, all) Border Styles, line thickness.
Cells E1 and J1 will appear to "merge across" because Row 1 borders have been formatted as No Border or 3 pt Border in this example. See Cell E1 for example. It is not merged across C1 to G1.
Please call back with questions.
Regards,
Ian.
Edit:
Cells E1 and J2 will appear to "merge across"

I agree!

Hi dtryon,
That's right. The cells are still there you have just hidden the borders. As long as adjacent cells are empty your month will expand to show itself. You will need to enter the Months individually in every fifth cell.

Then how do I get the full month to display as in the first image. When I hit enter after typing the name it only shows 2-3 letters .
Hi dtryon,
The cells need to be formatted as text with "Wrap text in cell" unchecked.

Quinn,
The check box is unchecked and the adjoining cells are indeed empty. What else could cause that look?
Dt
Hi dtryon,
The cells need to be formatted as text. If the formatt is "automatic" or Date/Time it will get cut off.

Thanks, that did it.
