Safety of MacPaw CleanMyMac

iMac 2009 vintage, running OSX 10.9.5.

Prior to the App Store, I purchased a utility program from Apple's Web site called CleanMyMac from MacPaw, which is out of Ukraine. It is a storage organizer and cleaner. I've used it with apparent success for about 3-4 years and am now on version 2.5, but notice it has not been offered on the App Store for some time.

Therefore, I ask if it is safe to continue using or if Apple decided it is malware.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), 2009 Came with 10.6 Snow Leopard

You would probably get more help if you start your own new discussion. This one is marked as 'solved' so is unlikely to get much attention from people hoping to help solve problems. That said, Allan's advice, earlier in the thread, would be worth doing. Download and run EtreCheck, and If you start a new thread, describe the problem and post the contents of the EtreCheck report and hopefully someone may spot a possible cause of your problem.
