Slow Mac after updating to OS X 10.11.1

Question

My one-year-old Macbook Pro (Mid-2012, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD) is running slow after updating to OS X 10.11.1. All apps are taking longer to open, the response to clicks is often delayed and the spinning wheel is appearing much more frequently.I&#x27;ve tried re-indexing Spotlight, verifying disk and clearing caches, but nothing has worked. I have enough free disk space.It was running fast after updating to El Capitan (faster than Yosemite), but after installing the new update (10.11.1), it has become really slow. I&#x27;ve had the same issue on this computer multiple times before. Typically, what happens is that its performance slows down (usually after performing troubleshooting procedures such as booting in safe mode and creating a new user for other issues), and only a clean install of the OS fixes the problem, after which it runs fast. However, the slowness returns after a few weeks (this time after updating to 10.11.1), and I&#x27;m forced to do a clean install again. I&#x27;ve performed clean install 6-7 times since I bought this Mac. I&#x27;ve even taken it to an authorized service center twice, but it passed the hardware tests both times.Can someone please help me figure out why it slows down again and again and hopefully fix the problem?

I have exactly the same problem with the same hardware.  I feel like it&#x27;s not going to get sorted until 10.11.2 if at all.

Upgraded my 2008 Macbook Pro no problems what so ever upgraded my 2014 MacBook Air it is now running like dog...I Have tried all the advice on this forum but nothing seems to have worked, Apple please get this sorted out ASAP this not we expect from your updates.

I have the same prob after update to 10.11 with my ssd  after i shutdown and turn back on slow boots. and it work fine in 10.10.5 and 10.9.5I have the same type of laptop so your not the only one have this prob.

Get rid of the kaspersky anti virus software.  Uninstall it according to the developer&#x27;s instructions.  AV software isn&#x27;t an asset for Mac systems and does more to slow it down that protect against viruses that don&#x27;t exist. Then rerun the Etrecheck and start a new topic with the results.  Tagging on to long existing topic will not get you the attention you should get.  This goes for all other users who have posted "me too" in this topic  Start your own topic with specific details of your problem.

I took my Mac to an authorised service provider (different from the one I took it to earlier), and they said that there&#x27;s a problem with the hard disk and it will be replaced. What I don&#x27;t understand, though, is why the fault didn&#x27;t show up in the previous tests. Anyway, I hope the problem gets solved when the hard disk is replaced.

Hi, did you solve your problem? I am have same issues after updating my 2014 rmpb to 10.11.1.  Previous 10.11.0 ran so smooth and better than yosemite now it shutters doing muti tasking and sometimes hangs for few sec. Mine started right after 10.11.1 update.
