Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

Then what relation with the emails hyperlinks?

I guess I wasn't aware the the 2 bugs were related.

It just seems very distant.

The music issues are all dependent on one being signed into iTunes on iOS 9.1 or 9.2.

If I sign into a different account on the same iPhone, on iOS 9.1 or 9.2, the music issues all go away.

The e-mail issue will exist regardless of what e-mail account it's on, or what iTunes account is signed in, thus I see it as a bug in the Mail app.

Tthey are very much related: if hyperlinks don't load, Apple Music don't load, and vice versa. Even hyperlinks from an email address that is not the one I use for my Apple ID.

I guess I'm skeptical of that because my Apple Music can load without issue, if I simply switch to my sister's account.

The hyperlinks won't open in Mail, but Music will definitely load.
Because of this, I highly doubt that dependent on each other.

If people without the Apple Music issues can still have hyperlink issues, they have to be independent of each other.

EDIT: it's also important to note that if you have an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus, you can still open hyperlinks with 3D touch.

I agree. I have 2 apple ID's one for iTunes and Apple music and one for iCloud which deals with my email and I cannot get links to connect. What I did find out today if you hold down the link (I have an iPhone 6s) then you can get the link to load up. I got a refund from Apple today for the Apple Music not working but this cancelled my membership (but it holds my info for 90 days if I rejoin) what I would like to know is does my Apple ID I use for Apple Music have to be my iTunes ID or can I use my iCloud one. This may help with the issue of corrupted ID's.

Thanks,

Allen.

I'm sure you could use your iCloud Apple ID for Apple Music.
The only downside is that you'd lose access to all of your previous iTunes and App Store purchases that are tied to the old iTunes Apple ID.

In view of all this, after experiencing that everything works fine on IOS 8.4.1 and IOS 9.02, I will book another Genius Bar appointment and ask them to replace my IPad Mini for one operating prior to IOS 9.1. They better agree, and if we all are such "unheard of, isolated" cases, a few Iphones and IPads swaps will not really dent their billion of earnings....

I've got no solution to offer.

But yes, I have most of the same issues. Just want to add my voice to the mix here. iPhone 6 / iOS 9.1 & iPad 3rd Gen / iOS 9.1 - All of these issues are intermittent and can sometimes be resolved for a very brief time by doing iPhone reboots and restores, but nothing has permanently fixed this for me including a factory reset with no restore.

- Apple Music won't stream anything along with occasionally throwing up a Signup for Apple Music screen.

- App updates/new installs hang and will sometimes download after I reboot the iPhone.

- Podcasts won't download when I manually select an episode to download.

- Game Center does not load

- Have not had issues opening links into Safari that originate from an email.

Steps performed to try and resolve:

- Toggle on/off airplane mode to kill all the antennas after having killed the offending apps

- Reste Network Settings

- Numerous iPhone reboots

- Several iPhone "standard" restores using backups from my MacBook

- One Factory Reset using the 'Update' option

- One Factory Reset using the 'Restore' option but choosing the 'Setup as New iPhone' option rather than restoring from a backup.

Just talked to Apple Support again and they have simply arranged for me to go into the Apple Store to get a replacement, but I know this will not work if the new iPhone is running iOS 9.1

From what I can tell from my own experiences and reading through the numerous accounts of others, this is definitely a very unique issue related to specific Apple ID's and iOS 9.1. This gives the impression that it should be fixable with an iOS software fix, but if it already appears that iOS 9.2 does not fix the issue then those experiencing this may be in for a long wait.

This seems to be another good reason that Apple put in the time to figure out a way of migrating purchases between Apple ID accounts. If could just create a new ID and then hit a migrate purchases button 'from this account' then I could have had this resolved as soon as I figured out what was going on.

I've reset the phone to factory default then setup the phone as new. That did work for me for about a day and then the problem started happening after I started using Apple Music. I've also been to the Genius Bar and had the phone replaced. That also worked for about a day then the problem started happening again. I've talked to Apple support and still waiting back from the engineering team which I was told will take a couple of days. i have also upgraded to 9.2 beta 3 And the problem still exists.

MY temporary workaround that has been working so far is to:

create a a new Apple ID

from the main account add the new ID to the family

sign in to the iCloud from the iphone with the new account (you will have to sign out from the main ID) and accept the invitation

you can sign out from iCloud and sign back in with the main account

sign out of the App Store

restart phone( might not have to actually do but this is what I did)

sign in to the App Store with with the new ID

everything works again

if you want Apple Music to work you will either have to upgrade to the family plan or sign up for the free trial on the new account an hope Apple will fix this problem within the trial.

I've had issues with my Apple ID too: I had to sign in several times, especially when I go to SETTINGS.

Just now, I was prompted on my iMac 8,1 running El Capitan to authenticate an app I had bought from the app store years ago. It's the first time I'm prompted to do that, and I use that app several times a day. This is getting really weird. An icon resembling that of FILEVAULT appeared saying it was authenticating the app.

I'm soooo appalled by Apple. What a shame. It didn't used to be like that before....

I went in yesterday and got my iPhone 6s replaced. It has iOS 9.0 on it. It is very unlikely that a replacement phone will have 9.1. My new phone works perfectly in all respects. I looked at all the things that 9.02 and 9.2 "fixed" and nothing there is worth losing streaming or app updates, etc. Get the new phone. You will be ecstatic that you did. After 3 weeks of this crap I can't believe what a pleasure it is to have a properly working phone.

Hi All:

I never contribute to forum posts, but this is an exception. I have been experiencing these issues as well, and they greatly inhibit my ability to use my otherwise beloved iPhone. I use this thing at all times of day, and I am very disappointed to not have access to my music library.

I live in Canada, and am using an iPhone 6 using iOS 9.1 software. My Apple ID is indeed a Gmail address.

Apple's customer service has been commendable, but the CSR assigned to my case was unfamiliar with this issue. It does sound as though we are isolated cases.

Issues experienced include:

- Apple Music won't stream anything along with occasionally throwing up a signup for Apple Music screen

- iCloud Music Library doesn't work (I subscribe to iTunes Match), and I cannot access any of the music that I own from my iPhone

- App updates/new installs hang and will sometimes download after I reboot the iPhone

- Game Center does not load

- Have issues opening links into Safari that originate from an email

Steps performed to try and resolve:

- Toggle on/off airplane mode to kill all the antennas after having killed the offending apps

- Reset Network Settings

- Numerous iPhone reboots

- Several iPhone "standard" restores using backups from my MacBook

- One Factory Reset using the "Update" option

- One Factory Reset using the "Restore" option but choosing the "Setup as New iPhone" option rather than restoring from a backup

Even if Apple replaces my iPhone, will that solve the problem? If I create a new Apple ID (which I do not want to do, in light of the amount of additional precious time this will take), what will happen to the content and subscriptions that I have already paid for?

Out of curiosity I Googled 9.1 bugs. There was page after page of articles about the Touch ID working slower in 9.1. Not one mention of this far more serious problem. That shows this bug affects a tiny fraction of 9.1 users. It makes you wonder what it is about our particular Apple IDs that is causing this. There has to be something that our IDs or accounts have in common.

Nov 11, 2015 3:00 PM in response to Zubcut80

I noticed exactly the same, and yesterday I had a comment about it I posted on Facebook temporarily "removed" ... I am starting to think that having a "bug" is so anti-Apple, one is not allowed to attract crowds about what we are experiencing... I posted plenty of links on Twitter as well, nobody grabbed on our issues, only the Touch thing indeed.... Very strange
