Apple Music not working on iPhone 6 after iOS 9.1

I foolishly updated both iPhone 6 and iPad Mini with the new iOS 9.1 on the day of release, and spent all day yesterday trying to make Apple Music work. around 11pm, it finally worked on my iPad after login/signing on and off for a few hours, today it shows everything fine, but don't play anything. After communicating with Apple Music Help on Twitter I decided to re-install it all on the iPhone 6, hours of the signing on and off frozen, Apple Music on the phone shows For You, New and Connect OK, but won't play, Radio doesn't load at all and My Music is empty, not linking to my Music Match on ICloud. Now (Saturday 16:26), I can only listen to my music and Beats 1 from my main MacBook Pro... I definitely think this iOS 9.1 is a massive mistake. I am trying to reset my iPhone from scratch as I type this, backing it up from the Cloud from 3 days ago, but I launched this 1 hour ago and it still does nothing.... Not very convenient to do the Beats Run tomorrow if I need to png in my laptop in a rucksack as no small device is usable.

After my visit to the store, this is the diagnostic. So still not working (Ipad Mini or Iphone 6)

The employee spent a long time and was very very nice and really sorry he couldn’t fix the problem. I got home with an Ipod Touch which is running with IOS 9.02 and off course NOT A SINGLE PROBLEM! I have another appointment at Apple Shop in a week to see if there has been a fix by then. In the meantime they said that I could return the Ipod Touch I got today, with complete refund within 2 weeks…. So I can listen to Apple Music, my ITunes Match collection, and Beats 1 until someone in the Apple “higher spheres” can debug that nasty IOS 9.1…

Diagnostics don't show any abnormalities.

Radio stations don't load , music constantly skipping,

Unable to load.

DFU restore didn't fix the issue , clearly is account wide and related to IOS .

On the customers Mac it's working perfectly.

Advised her to feed it back to Apple so we can find a solution.

Just wanted to follow up that I wound up getting my 6S plus replaced at the Apple Store, but I haven't updated the ios from 9.0 to 9.1.

Make sure you have iCloud Music Storage turned on under Music in settings or your "My Music" won't show up. I had other issues, not just with music. Will let you know what happens when I update and restore my my phone. Needless to say, I'm cautious about doing that.

Seeing as a fix could be weeks if not months away, would be great if Apple started signing 9.0.2 again. I know that's not gonna happen, but having to temporarily buy a second device is such a messy solution.

Incidentally this morning I noticed everything on my 6S+ was back up for about an hour - able to download apps, stream Apple music, click links in email, etc. Then it all went out again. It all came back randomly without me doing anything at all, so all this rebooting/signing out/restoring is likely just wasted energy. Ultimately a patch is needed.

Now matter got worse. At the shop we erase and reset the IPad as "new" device, with no luck, so although no hyperlinks and no Apple Music all the apps I had already installed where working fine. Now as the **** thing freezes when I enter my Apple ID in settings, I can't reload apps, but the weirdest I can't even add my secondary email address in the mailbox. Again no fault there, as just prior to typing this I set both my emails in the mail box on the IPod Touch. So yes, the IOS9.1 really killed something! I am afraid we all might need NEW virgin/pristine IPhones and IPads... I will call Apple Support again tomorrow and certainly go to the store again on Monday

This happened to me when I wiped and restored my iPhone, third party apps either wouldn't download or came back with all internal data missing (local scores, logins, etc). Ultimately I was able to grab a month-old iCloud backup, pre-9.1, that had all the third party app data intact.

I suspect this this has to do with the fact that 9.1 breaks the link between Apple ID and App Store, so third party apps aren't backing up properly. That's just a guess though.

I have the exact same issue. I updated to 9.1, Apple Music became unresponsive and any Apple Music I had stored on my iPhone was gone, I couldn't download or update from the iTunes or App Stores, iCloud couldn't back up and some games don't get past the first screen. Apple support made it seem like it was just me having issues. They've had me restore my phone to factory settings three times with no luck. Whatever happened to "it just works"? I cancelled Apple Music figuring it's crazy to pay for something I can't use.....

The plot thickens, yesterday I went to my local Apple Store: we tried a reset of my iPad, so erased all the apps I had installed on it: The issue is that Apple ID is GOOD with ICloud, but IOS 9.1 killed something that links between Apple ID and Apps Store/Itunes: which is why it doesn't download apps, doesn't show in app store any of the apps I own that are now on the Cloud, doesn't load and play Apple Music (I guess because it is linked to Itunes too),and hyperlinks in emails don't work.

At the store I had to buy an IPod Touch to be able to listen the Apple Music / Beats 1 (which I need for work), that iPod Touch is running with IOS 9.02 out of the box, and everything I downloaded (Twitter app, Apple Music, etc), hyperlinks in emails, etc.... all that works flawlessly.... That little lifesaver of iPod Touch today is promoting me in "Settings" to download to IOS 9.1, as I may return that iPod I don't need within the 15 days policy with Apple, I won't touch that under any circumstances!

As of 12:30pm Eastern standard time (US east coast) everything working normally. I didn't do anything, just using phone normally and noticed everything was working again - Apple Music, email links, downloading apps, etc. To everyone reading this, please post if you're experiencing the same thing at the same time where you are, would be interesting to compare notes.

we'll see how long this lasts - in the meantime furiously downloading as much music as possible before the next big freeze lol

I can also attest that this isn't a hardware issue but an apple id issue. I posted yesterday that my iphone is good but it's back to the same prob after an hour. Spent whole day trying to figure out what's causing this. It is my apple id indeed. Tried my brother's apple id and everything works fine. Tried again my apple id then again it was a catastrophe. For now, I can't think of a solution but to wait until apple acknowledges this issue. I also tried the iOS 9.2 beta 1 but problem exists in that version too. Let's just hope that those in the Genius Bar who assisted smnlo can escalate this to the team responsible in developing iOS. Good luck to all us. I pray that our woes end soon.

after a week of trying sync my phone without success I finally made it possible!!! here is how!! "WARNING - MAKE A BACK UP ON ITUNES, DON'T FORGET IT"

1- get into Setting - General - Reset - Erase All Content and Setting...

2- expect your phone get stuck trying to erase, connect to PC and go into DFU Mode.

3- get into iTunes and "upgrade and restore"

4- set as a new iPhone and Sync.

5- restore from your back up!

and that's it you are already f*** by a company that wants YOU to use what THEY WANT how THEY WANT, even if you pay for your device and it's F******** YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!! but don't worry tho at lease you have your music running!!!!

Hello guys and girls...

First of all a BIG shout out and thumbs up to the guys at Apple Music Help on Twitter, and Apple Support in general, although the issue is not fixed yet, they are so nice, patient, and really listen. I wish all customer services worldwide would be the same!

Back to the subject: Yesterday I spent a couple of hours with a lovely guy, IOS support in the USA, they have now the thread to this discussion and look at all our comments. The IOS guy said that it might take a bit of time to fix, but finally they are aware of the growing number of people having the issue. Fingers crossed...

In reply to djpltn: if your brother's ID works on your devices, wouldn't it be an idea to change our Apple Id across the board?...
