how do i stop Imessage from capitalizing all letters of a proper name?

Had iPhone for 7 years. For the last few months this “feature” was driving me crazy. Going to switch to Android.

I have the same issue with an ATT phone in Maryland.

I have had the same problem for a long time, and it has continued despite various IOS updates. It happens when texting and drives me crazy.

I’ve been having the same issue. Corrected the autocorrect a million times but still it gives me all caps. It is extremely annoying! Would love a fix to that!

Worked here, but you lose Autocap at beginning of sentences, etc. Has to be a better solution. Thoughts?

Oh this was totally it for me. For some reason, I had my contact info in ALL CAPS. So every time I would type my name, it used ALL CAPS. Tried all the language, dictionary, and predictive text changes, and corrected it a million times but could not figure this out! Thanks!!!

Yes this is BS. Every time I type a proper name it makes it all caps. I am going to type Charles (I had to change it) now I'm going to type it again and hit the space bar. CHARLES... get it?? How about this: Steely DAN . All I capped were the S and the C, and hit space bar.

I will check my contacts for those names in caps. I'll do it now before I post this, I could be mistaken... and I WAS! I had a DAN and a CHARLES in my contacts. I edited them. Now I will try again to type Charles and Dan.. well how about that!! I'm not a good listener.. thanks!!

Not BS after all, just user error. I'm glad to have this fixed! Now if I can just get autocorrect to change an s to an a when I accidentally hit the s instead of the a.. why would anyone type an s in a sentence?

*SOLVED*

I had this same issue and for me, I found the solution. The problem happens when you have "contacts found in apps" turned ON. Turning this OFF fixed my issue.

Go to Settings>Contacts>(And toggle the green button off under "contacts found in apps)

Than close the settings app, and test it by typing a proper name in a text. You should no longer have the auto caps issue. Let me know if this helps you.
