Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

iPad, iOS 9.1, This is an iPad Pro

Same crash Problem with my iPad Pro 128 LTE.

No results from:

•restore from Backup,

•complete reset and configuration as a new iPad

•different cables

Crash did not happen when charged by my MacBook Pro !?

iPad did also unforced reboots (only noticed it because i have to type my pin after a restart instead of touch)

Due to a display problem i got a new one today. Will report behaviour of the new one.

Suit yourself about returning your iPad Pro, but I love this thing. Nothing about it is half baked in my experience. I had the same problems as everyone else that first day. Returned that one and the same thing happened again with the second one. After the second day with the new one, the problem seems to be gone and now I'm going into my third day problem free. So I spent roughly 1 minute total time doing a hard reboot 4 times. Big deal. What ever the problem is or was, there's no way Apple would leave you or anyone else "holding the bag" with this problem. Everything else works perfectly and does exactly what it's supposed to do. There will be a fix via a software download and soon. It's not like it's that Bigga deal really to me.

Not posting this for bragging rights...but to let everyone know there is hope. Have two 128's wifi only, and no issues at all. Only thing I see different, is I did not purchase at Apple Store. I got mine at Best Buy, no waits plenty in stock, and they also sell Apple Care for those who did not know. They also offer Apple Care support for those like me who live hours from an apple store. Very strange that we got two, with no issues.
Also, those waiting for pencil, most apple stores have them, but you won't see it posted on the apple web site. Call you local store. I got mine two nights ago...and its sweet!

Got my gold iPad pro 128gb LTE on the 11th. Backed it up to my iPad Air 2 via icloud which is running 9.2 beta and I have not had any problems with the iPad shutting down after charging. In fact, have had no issues other than not being able to get the apple pencil which is completely frustrating! Try installing the ios 9.2 beta version as it does seem to be a firmware issue.

Calling doesn't really do any good to find out about pencil stock. Pretty much all the sales associates I talk to say, "you'll have to order online because we aren't expecting any shipments for 4 weeks. When you explain to them that the majority of stores are getting stock in then the associates go, well you must have heard wrong." So -10 for how Angela Ahrendt's is running the retail. She should have sent out a memo and ensured it was filtered from her managers to the associates.

Which is my point. Ahrendt's isn't ensuring that all the stores are in line with what's going on. To have some stores saying that they won't be getting any stock in and have no idea when stock will be coming in and know nothing about other stores getting stock in is a failure of the retail head to ensure that an important launch is being handled properly. When the big draw for the ipad pro are essentially two important accessories, it's not the same thing as saying this is like a generic slipcase, or cover. I mean Ives is out there giving interviews about the pencil. It's not a stupid accessory, it's an important milestone. The launch should reflect that. Their sales associates should reflect that in the knowledge that they have.

Well, I guess we can agree to disagree. My understanding is what they sell to walk ins is dependent on the stock they receive as compared to the early on-line orders that have to be filled. If the allotment is more than ordered for a period of time, they are selling them. They are trying to avoid a hoard of people walking in and keeping it low key, although word is getting out. The iPad Pro seemed to be released a lot earlier than most, even store managers had expected. If you read around the blogs, many people have them,

It was the same with apple TV4. You could have pre-ordered, and waited a few weeks, or walked into an apple store on the Friday after release and just picked one up. So, yes, they are changing the distribution it seems, to your point. Bottom line, call the store, tell them you heard some stores have them in stock, and see what they say. Never hurts to ask. I did, and am loving the pencil!

Cheers my friend.
