Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

I got the unit on Thursday,(128g LTE iPad Pro), and had it up and running within about three hours after unboxing. The act of returning it a week later is based on the disproportional amount of time I had to plan for in order to get this problem resolved. My whole business runs on Apple, and I am really happy with their machines. I am spoiled by the flawless performance all my other products (currently an iMac Retina, 15MBPr, MacBook, 13MBP, 3xiPad Air2, 2xiPad Mini2, Apple Watch, 6S+) show in my everyday work, and have been so since I first switched over from Windows in 2005. I owned an iPad from the second day on when they came out, and I can not imagine to be without this genius device. All I realized is that I probably should have waited until the kinks on the newly released iPad Pro were ironed out before I buy one. I am a heavy user of the machines, not a beta tester. Returning the unit is a decision based on economics, nothing else. The calculation is as follows: not counting initial setup, I have spend a total of about seven hours wiping and restoring the machine three times, chatting with and talking to the nice Apple support staff, and reading articles in this support forum. No resolution of the problem in sight, I need to get on with my work (I run a small Record Company and Recording Studio), and let them figure out if it is a hardware or software related problem in the mean time. When this issue is resolved, I will definitely buy the iPad XXL again, since it really is an incredible machine. BTW, the Apple return policy is one of the many reasons I buy Apple products. This is only the second time I had to use it in ten years. Flawless. Thank you.

Got my replacement yesterday. It froze while restoring it on a white screen in the apple store. Had to hard reset it. Then it finished without issues. Got it home. worked with it pretty much all evening. Charged it at 60%. Woke up. Dead.

This is really annoying. I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software. If the charge is overloading the iPad causing to to protect itself or what.

But in any event, this is so that needs to be fixed. 😟

I would just wait for the next update, this issue has been fixed in the next update in Beta, and hopefully the regular update comes out today or tomorrow. Right now I just charge it before I go to bed and then unplug it. I think the Freeze happens after it's been fully charged for a long time. I would just say live with it and don't let it consume us and just charge it here and there until the update fixes it. Other than this glitch, this has been an awesome iPad and love it!

Trust me I'm not happy that Apple did not realize this serious Glitch before, but I know in less than a few days from now or so this will be fixed and not even remember this issue.

Totally agree the iPad Pro is awesome and it will only get better and better as more apps take advantage of the larger screen and iOS 9 features designed for it like multi-tasking. I do wish Apple would make the multi-tasking menu a grid (instead of a list) and let us decide how we want to order it and which apps we want on there or not. It would also be great if we could adjust the left pane to be as small as we can make the right pane. It would also be great if you could run iPhone-only apps in a pane so that they can operate in landscape mode and not just portrait mode. There's still a lot of low-hanging fruit UX changes in the iOS interface as far as I can see.

Yes even if the Beta solve it i wouldnt suggest going into the beta just for that. It's a bit "odd" to get out the beta and you never know what icloud backup does with it, by that i mean that when you will go out the beta, maybe months from now, you will face an old non-beta icloud backup (Because betas seems to have their proper icloud backups).

Anyway, hopes it get fixed, it happent to me once, strangly.

Yah I didn't do the airplane mode thing (although I did turn on the do not disturb mode and set a schedule for it) and I can't seem to get my original cable to lock things up. (I'm the one who originally made the statement that maybe the cable was an issue). As of now after a week I can't get my ipad pro to lock up. It's strange. I've been trying all kinds of things and no go, so it must be a software issue, and it's looking like what most people are thinking which is that there's some sort of sync thing causing a lock up...

Just my thoughts and notes as of this point. Like I said, I can't seem to get it to lock up now after the first week of lockups....

I have also been experiencing this issue. In addition, today when it rebooted, my home screen was completely empty. No app icon at all except for those in the bottom tray. I swiped left and the correct icon were on the second page, but when I swiped right again, the home screen was still empty. I swiped through all the screen and when I got back to the first page the icon did finally appear.
