Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

iPad, iOS 9.1, This is an iPad Pro

FIX: Apple support had me restore Ipad via iTunes and set up as new not with any back up. This fixed the issue. I would say there still needs to be a software

update but they found that when they had me run a diagnostic there was a corruption in the back up..

So basically restore ipad and redownload iOS 9.1 with iTunes, and set up as new. Took about an hour.

Because for me, it happened the first night and has not happened since. I happily use my iPad Pro every day without a hitch.

I'm not sure if it happened because overnight it was still backing up from iCloud, or what. I did switch charging cables, but it doesn't happen with either cable - one from Amazon nor the one that came with it. It also doesn't matter on mine if hey Siri is enabled or not.

I agree with you. It's shocking to me Apple moderators don't check into this room even if only to provide a temporary fix, as you put it. I can't speak for anybody else but I keep playing with them because I want/need my iPad to work. That being said, I respect your decision to send it back; for the premium Apple charges for their products this is garbage.

Please don't troll in here. Surface pro 4 has so many problems that are far worse. I had to deal with incomplete intel drivers, video distortion issues, rapidly draining battery, locking up face login, poor wifi signals, etc... The list for the surface pro is so much larger, that your statement can only be considered trolling. The issue we're trying to bring attention to here is very specific and it's for the sole reason of getting Apple to fix it properly. There's several people who keep posting in here as MS shills about the surface pro 4/book and really those have their own set of issues that don't belong here.

Nope, no shilling. Nice try, though.

I just thought there was freedom of speech here. My mistake.

Meanwhile, you defend Apple with every breath. Hilarious.

No biggie. I no longer have the problem, since I soon won't have the product and never will again.

You can preach your fatuous workarounds all you like, the fact remains - I notice you're not taking to task the others with the same observation - is that Apple should have fixed the problem before foisting a product on the consumer that wasn't ready for use.

Defend on, var.

ignatz, nothing personal but if you don't have the product and can't contribute to the conversation seeking a solution to the topic at hand perhaps your time would be better spent at http://www.asus.com/us/support/ than it is here; quoting every other post and typing out your best one line zinger. The pain and anger will soon be over for you, you'll get your money back and won't have an iPad Pro... congrats!

saying asus as many times as you did in a post sounds like shilling to me.

it's a company's forum. no one said anything about freedom of speech here.

yes.

why are you here then? you have some vested interest, and since you're here and are returning the product with constant bombardment of another company's name then you are shilling.

fatuous like your posts are? The workarounds aren't silly and we're talking about turning a toggle on so that we don't have to do a restart that takes 15 seconds once a day.... OHHHHHHhhhhhhh nooooooooo.

i will.

No one is "defending" Apple, there is no need. I never had the issue on my Pro, but I know others who have and who participate in the beta and their issue was resolved. I've never had any device or service that was software related that did not have one issue or another at sometime. I'm 65 years old and have used a lot of different software devices from various manufacturers. If I wanted to trash every company that had a product with a bug I would have absolutely no life as apparently some here don't.

Even with this bug the device is fully functional. If you are returning or have apparently, you really neither needed nor wanted it. And that's fine. No one forced you to buy it nor keep it. But touting another device that won't be any better for most, maybe for you, and if so good luck, is not helpful to anyone. But when you run into the bugs on it don't waste your life or anyone else's time ranting. Talking to a therapist would be a better use of your time.

This particular issue also hit some of us on our iPhone 6S when it was released. It only happened once to me and after 9.1 I've not had the issue recur. I guess I should have returned it and bought an Android device and then come here and ranted. But a therapist would have been more helpful. Think about it.
