Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

I have had the same issue every night I have charged my iPad. One day after i performed a hard reset on my 128 cellular iPad pro and it only had 80% vs the normal 100%. But it got me thinking that something else had to shut down the iPad besides charging it to 100%. Last night I put my iPad in airplane mode with the thought process that the only thing going on in the night is iCloud syncing and potentially app syncing. I woke up, pressed the home button and I saw the my typical lock screen, I believe it worked. The only potential outlier I had was I did press the home button in the night after about 3 hours of charging. The battery was already 100% charged though.

My constants:

I use the included iPad charger

When setting up the iPad, I did not "set up as a new iPad" but restored from my mini

I have ample iCloud storage space

I had the same issue with my Space Gray 128 GB WI-FI/cellular version that I picked up on November 11th from the Apple Store. After a week of this, I enabled Hey Siri, and the problem is solved. I will wait for the iOS update. On a brighter note, I just received my smart keyboard today, and my Apple Pencil will be arriving on Tuesday! 🙂
