Ipad Pro shuts off while charging and requires a hard reset to turn on

Hello,

I got my iPad Wednesday, spent the evening getting it all setup. Restored from back up, ensured everything was there, wiped my iPad air 2 (sold it), deleted it's back up and went on with my normal routine.

At night it was down to 40% so I charged it and went to bed. When I woke up it was "dead". It wouldn't wake up. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to come to life. Worked on it for a couple of hours and had to run an errand. Plugged it back in as I was going to need a full charge later that day. Came back to it, same thing. Dead. I needed to perform a hard reset to get it to turn on.

Used it more, then last night plugged it in and this morning, same thing. I am thinking that there is an issue with this iPad.

I am now restoring it, since that it what online support recommended I try. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue?

Thanks.

iPad, iOS 9.1, This is an iPad Pro

FIX: Apple support had me restore Ipad via iTunes and set up as new not with any back up. This fixed the issue. I would say there still needs to be a software

update but they found that when they had me run a diagnostic there was a corruption in the back up..

So basically restore ipad and redownload iOS 9.1 with iTunes, and set up as new. Took about an hour.

I had the exact same problem with the iPad Pro: it died on me.

I got my new iPad Pro last night, and I configured it, etc., and set it to recharge before going to bed. When I got up this morning, it was absolutely — completely, completely, completely — dead. (And, I could not get it to restart no matter what I did.)

I had it for less than 9 hours.

I took it back for a refund because I thought it was a lemon. And, when I did, they were all out of the iPad Pro 128gb model that I wanted. Arggggh.

However, I had no idea that anyone else was having "issues" with theirs as well.

Well, her is my update. I hAd to do a hard reset for the first three nights. Last night I enabled Siri plus before I shut down the iPad Pro, I shut down the iPad Pro with the sleep key . Then I brought the iPad Pro up again I connected The iPad Pro to the charger -- about 50% left in the battery level. I got up this morning and I was able to just wake up the iPad Pro and it worked fine. I am not sure if it was enabling Siri that did the trick or doing the sleep button shut off of the iPad Pro and bring it back up again that did it or it was a combination factor However, I agree with Proy, that for a new quality products such as this, one should not have to resort to such tricks. Will follow up in the next couple days to let you know how this works or continues to work.

Please don't reset the ipad.. OMG, pretty sure it's been proven time and time again that that is not the solution. Please look at the other possible fixes, or wait for the ios 9.2 update. Almost everyone that does the reset/erase option just has the problem come back because it's a problem with IOS 9.1

(condensed summary of some of the solutions that have worked)

- Try a different cable & charger if you have another 12W brick and lightning cable

- Enable Hey Siri

- Check the icloud backup and try disabling that

- Try turning on airplane mode when charging

Those are some of the non-destructive options. Please don't just reset everything though. Some people get into a loop of doing that, and then just make things worse for themselves.

I was using mine during the daytime, plugged in to the charger. When it got to 98%, it locked up, with the screen still visible. On hard reset, it was at 100%.

It seems to me that it hung up very close to the moment when it went to 100%.

Turning ON Hey Siri has solved the problem for me on 3 full charges. Note that on the iPad Hey Siri is only active when it's plugged in.

Ok all, so far 8.5 hours of sitting on the charger at 100%, sitting with the screen off, and when I press the home button at 100% charge, hey siri turned off the ipad screen turns on like it should.

IOS 9.2 installed this morning.

128GB LTE ipad pro.

Charger and cable that came with the ipad pro.

Bluetooth on, wifi on, lte on.

Sitting on 100% charge for the last 9 hours, screen wakes up properly.

So far it looks like IOS 9.2 has fixed the issue.
