iPad pro screen cracked!

cant believe less than 24 hours after buying my iPad pro, left it by the side of the bed and in the morning accidentally knocked my watch off the bed table (an I watch at that!) and the 2ft drop was big enough to crack the screen! Beware as I've had 3 iPads in the past that have taken much abuse and never cracked a screen, the iPad pro is very flimsy and has a weak screen!!!!!!!!

Mine just cracked after a week. I have the Apple silicone case from day one. Was totally dumbfounded when I saw it as I had used it recently, and it was in a padded case, never had it out of my sight. My old iPad 3 had been dropped accidently several times but no cracks till the last time on concrete and it only had the Apple Smart Cover.

We have had our Ipad Pro for 3 weeks. We did not drop it. It has only been subject to ordinary use. It has been kept in the Targus Versavu case. One morning I discover a large, single crack from one side to the other. Not damage to the frame. No sign of impact. I have been in contact with an independt repair company that performs tons of repairs on phones and tablets. They are of the oppinion that the screen is likely to suffer from a manufucturing defect.

I Have a iPad Pro 9.7 bought in July 2017 and it was in a protective cover and in a Mac bag with an iPad pouch and when I pulled it out for the first use it was cracked all the way across the screen. Had the Mac bag with me the entire time so I am starting to think the I-blason cover might have caused or there is an issue with the screens. Apple said sorry for your luck.

I Purchased the iPad Pro 9.7 in July 2016 along with a protective I-blason cover and mac bag with iPad protective pouch.Went to a conference which I purchased it for with it riding in the mac bag in the passenger seat .When I pulled it out to use the screen was cracked all the way across. Apple said sorry for your luck but it will be $ 379 to fix . I did not drop the bag or the iPad or do anything to cause a crack . The ipad still works fine so I am not going to pay to have fixed . I decided that I will not purchase any Apple products again because i am seeing more and more people having this issue and Apple refusing to fix .

Take up your iPad issue, since your iPad is only about a month old, with Apple, directly, at 1-800- MYAPPLE.

Ask for customer or sales service or someone involved with warranty service.

By AppleCare, AppleCare is supposed to allow one accidental damage replacement of your iPad.

Calmly and even toned, explain what happened to your iPad and what your local Apple Store did to the Apple employee on the phone.

If necessary, if you do not get any satisfaction from the first employee on the phone, calmly and politely, ask to speak to some other cognizant, higher ranking Apple employee and, once again, calmly explain your situation with your iPad.

Keep doing this until both you and Apple have reach some sort of equitable agreement or solution. that is favorable to you.

You shouldn't have to accept an accidentally broken device that is only a month old.

Also, in the future,if your case gets resolved, look into a different case/cover combo for your iPad Pro, just in case.

Good Luck!

I have talked to several people at Apple and they all tell me "sorry for your luck" . Now while the Ipad has been sitting on my desk it has developed 2 more cracks in the screen . I have removed it from the protective case so hopefully it will stop . The screen is literally crumbling right before my eyes.I have seen other forums where Apple has sent out warped Ipad pros and if you don't notice and send back asap, the screen will crack and you will be out of luck also. I am not going to pay to have it repaired because what happens if I get another bad screen. So I am just out $600 for buying an Apple. My next step is to put the Ipad pro back in its protective case and try to catch video of the cracks forming. Then I will post on youtube and Facebook to keep others from making the same mistake. I am also going to email C-Net whom gave the Ipad pro high marks because they obviously did not test for longevity.

Was this by phone or store employees?

Store employees, most times, ARE NOT helpful in these situations and it is better to take up the matter direct with Apple employees that work at the main Cupertino location in California.

You may get different outcome by dealing with this by phone with the number I supplied.

You may have to escalate the issue, by continuing to ask for higher ranking employees.

I find it hard to believe that Apple wont honor a free replacement under the accidental damage clause of AppleCare.

You have had this iPad not even two months!

If continued no joy, then there is nothing anyone else can do for you on this matter.

Sorry this has happened to you.

I have had no screen issues with my iPad Pro since purchase.

I chatted online with Apple support. I did not purchase the Applecare because I have several apple products and never have had a problem . I still have my 1st iphone(4s) and it works perfectly! This is my first Ipad purchase though which now seems to be a mistake. My co-workers thought I should purchase applecare now and then try to have it fixed but I feel like that is dishonest. Also I dont feel like I should have to pay anymore for a defective product. I think Apple should have at least had me send the Ipad pro to them to check for mishandling or abuse and then make their decision. I would have been satisfied with that.I will just purchase something else and hold on to the Ipad pro until enough cases have been reported that Apple is forced to do a recall. Then I will send in and demand a refund. It is really disappointing though. Thank you so much for your concern and help .

I've been testing mine for longgevity since November, traveling all over the world with it. I even left it in the seat back of a a plane at Amsterdam airport. Who knows how it was handled in the ten days before I passed through there again and pick it up at the lost and found. It has an Apple silicone case and a smart keyboard. No problems. I don't know why a very small number of users are experiencing this strange problem, but it does not seem like there's some kind of massive defect in the iPad Pro screen.
