The problem has to do with the Google map being no longer available for the location feature in iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier.

User Huxly647 figured out this fix

1. go to the /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources folder

2. delete the files ' googlemap.html ' and googlesearch.html

iPhoto will no longer crash while the locations feature is no longer a viable feature.

This was my problem as well. Running 10.8.5 and iPhoto 9.4.3. I am a photographer and have multiple iPhoto libraries for organizing my work because they're so simple and easy to use. Beginning about the same time everyone else was having this problem, my iPhoto, no matter how big or small the libraries, would crash when I clicked on "info." I sent multiple reports to Apple and saved copies to try and figure it out. When I finally had time to contact Apple support today, I was told the official approved method is a work around. You simply close out of everything and then disconnect your computer from the internet. Either turn off your wireless or unplug your ethernet, just make sure you are not connected to the internet. Reopen iPhoto and you will find everything working as it should. While I was waiting for help I found the link to this discussion and brought it up first thing to the tech. She said she knew about this fix and could help me with it, but it is not Apple sanctioned and that Apple did not currently stand behind this as a fix. She suggested doing a back up before you do anything, of course. She also mentioned that the Apple techs were gathering information regarding this issue up until about 3 weeks ago. (Maybe some of my reports were among them? Report when you can.) She didn't say there would be an update that will fix this issue, but didn't rule it out either.

That's Apple official response. However, you have three additional options.

First, upgrade to El Capitan and Photos and migrate to a Photos library.]

Secondly, the option I posted on the first page of this topic which disables the location feature of iPhoto:

Re: iPhoto 11 - Problems With Photo Locations

in response to Paul Fisher

YES!

I have just made it work.

I'm on a white macbook running 10.7.5 with iPhoto 9.4.3

Thanks to Paul I had an idea. What if we just ignored Apple's expired API and used our own, private and free from Google. Turns out it works.

Here's what you have to do:

0- Close iPhoto

1- Create a google account or use your own

2- Access Google's developers console HERE

3- Create a project (any name)

4- Activate a Google Maps Javascript API

5- Generate your own API key

6- Go to folder /Applications/iPhoto.app/Contents/Resources/googleMap.html

7- Edit the googleMap.html (I've used an application called TextWrangler)

8- Change this src="http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?v=3&client=gme-appleinc&sensor=false"> to this src="https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/js?key=YOUR_KEY_HERE&signed_in=true&sensor=false">

9- Save your freshly edited googleMap.html

10- Open iPhoto and enjoy.

Take that Apple.

Ditto. This worked except I renamed them. Is there a way to hide that misleading not connected to the Internet message?
