iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I have the same problem with mail, Safari, and messages. Links work with the gmail app. Links work in Chrome but only with a long click to get the option to open in a new tab. It appears this has happened before with 9.2.1 but I could not find an answer that fixed the problem. I do not think it started until 24 hours after the update. iPhone 6s+ 128gb 9.3.

I am sorry guys to say that maybe the issue is not in the iOS 9.3

I am running iOS 9.2.1 and I know that some people have been having the same issue with iOS 9.2.1 (URLs not working in Safari or Mail after iOS 9.2.1)

But not me my iPhone 6s was working fine and tapping links works just fine. But that up until this morning March 26, where I have been the same problem as you guys.

Instantly I went and checked if I updated my device by mistake or if the software was even downloaded. but no, my device was still running iOS 9.2.1 and did not even download iOS 9.3 because the update was having the infamous "software update filed" (another issue for another forum topic).

So my device out of no where started having this issue. now I dont think if I updated my device this issue will be resolved. I dont know whats the issue to be honest, but Apple need to fix this ASAP and release for once in their life time a stable iOS

Wait and see...

I think I identified the problem but I do not have a solution yet. When I restore without backup ( naked restoration ), the problem disappears ! URLs in Safari or mail work. That's where I am . The apple France Assistance is aware is should contact me . Wait and see ...

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 6s plus after updating to 9.3. I did full restore - then restored from backup - links not clickable. I did full restore and set up as new - links worked for a while, then after I installed some apps it broke again. It might be some 3rd party app that is the culprit, but seeing how widespread the issue is it must be some very common app. Wake up, Apple.

P.S. some developer guy posted in other forums that

swcd
(shared web credentials daemon) is constantly crashing.

Same here, iPhone 6 64 Gb. It began soon after I upgraded to 9.3. Also tried @AppleSupport on Twitter. After I informed them that a full restore worked but the backup brought the issue back I got this message:

That's good to hear. In that case, it indicates there may have been a potential software issue on your iPhone previously, or an issue with the update. You can try restoring the backup again if there's data you still need. One thing to keep in mind, backups are very thorough, and can sometimes bring the issue back as well. If the issue does come back with the backup, you'll want to go through and make sure all of your data is saved on the computer, and then set your iPhone up as new once more. Make sure to make a fresh backup from there and then you'll be good to go. Let us know if you have any questions or issues with getting your iPhone setup again

I gave it a try and restored again (third time). After trying another backup (also made after the upgrade I got the problem back. Answer this time was:

Thanks for the update, at this point if restoring the backup caused the issue to come back then the best option would be to do the restore and setup as new.

At least they didn't say the best option would buy another device... 😕

Same problem here on my Ipad2 air 2

For google search, I found a quick workaround by requesting the desktop page instead of the mobile one.

Click on the "send to" icon near the address bar, and then select "get desktop page" or whatever it is (I'm using Italian as main language here...)

This fixes the google search page, but not all other websites...
