So many people are having problems with the update to iOS 9.3 and the questions are flooding the iOS support forums now. I am hoping that by consolidating some of the information available, it will help some of you without starting hundreds of new threads all asking about the same things.

Please do not shoot the messenger if you already know all of this. I am just trying to help by providing some information To the community. Theses problems are well known, Apple has acknowledged them and is reportedly working on a fix that should be out soon.

Here are some tech site articles that explain the problems if any of you are interested in reading them. They are in no particular order other than what my most recent Google search turned up for me.

Apple posted these support articles a couple of days ago and they might help some of you as well

If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If you can’t activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after you update to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If nothing suggested works for you right now, you will just have to be patient (remember that "please don't shoot the messenger" thing from above ) and wait until Apple issues the fixed software update.

That's great that Apple is "working on it", but in the meantime our devices are worthless other than for game. Email links are a VERY big deal for those of us on the road.

That being said, do you know of a way to revert back to the pre 9.0s1 software?

Thanks for taking the time to post those links. It is disappointing that Apple doesn't have these on their website.

It makes sense, but it does not answer the question of why some devices work while others don't.

My iPhone 6 is suffering from the Safari Links issues. (Been restored, Booking.com App removed prior to restoring, and stil has the issue). However my iPad Pro, updated at the same time as the iPhone, and having the Booking.com App currently installed is not suffering form this at all.

I'M totally not a hardware person LOL but I wonder if the Pro can handle the Universal Links better with its 4GB of RAM,etc. Just throwing it out. I'm lucky I don't have the issues on either my Air or my 6s Plus, nor on husband's Air 2 or 6s. I'm guessing we have a lucky combination of software that doesn't conflict and I feel for everyone else that does. I use my Ipad 90% of the time and my Macbook the remainder and push my Ipad which means quite a bit of resetting (and now a fair amount of extra charging), thus planning to upgrade to Ipad Pro 12.5".

Your approachmakes sense. But I take a different approach and it's called baffle them with your B.S., no matter how little you know. 😁 Vito Corleone was an experiment. I wasn't able to get another avatar to appear for a while and it was upsetting me so I had to make Jive/ASC an offer it couldn't refuse and now it is working again. 👿

That's it exactly. That hypothetical was totally facetious since I don't think identical iPhones would act differently - but IF they did it would make things impossible for me to even conceive of what might be happening. Too many variable possibilities with all the different models and release times

iPad 2 (Early whatever)

iPad 2 (Late whatever)

etc.

Hi ChitlinsCC,

The information you referenced in previous posts about the universal links is the best cause for the problem.

Universal Links is supposed to allow you to click on a link and if it was a link to Twitter or Facebook the link would open the app and not open in the web browser. If you do not have the app it will open in the web browser.

A client has the exact same phone as me with same memory and same 9.3 update version 13E233. He is having link issue and I am not.

Most likely it is some app on his phone or the issue about exploding the size of the url cache mentioned in the article about the booking.com app.

Hope Apple fixes soon for everybody with this issue.

I appear to have found a provincial fix for the hyperlink failure in Safari, ( on IPad air) after struggling like most people with the new upgrade, I found that clearing all website data and turning off java script, has fixed my problem this deletes all web data and cookies (which I believe to be the problem ) and has brought our IPad back to life

by going to

Settings:

Safari:

Advanced

Website data :

Remove all website data (highlighted in red)

Turning Java script off

it has fixed our problems of, in safari hyperlinks not working

our IPad is now up and running

I hope this helps others with the same problem

HAlleluyah, this worked! For the first time in 4 days I could open a link from a Google Search.

Oh wait, turning off Java Script cripples applications and websits...for instance, I could not hit Reply on your note and have it work. Had to turn Javascript back on. With ajava ascript off Google Search loses its Search atools capabilities which lets you filter by date. Ugh!.

Unfortunately, this just trades one ailment for another.
