My apps won't download or update on App Store, what to do?

Hey!

My App Store has not updated any apps automatically for a few weeks, even though I have the "update automatically" setting on. (And no, those updates do not require Wi-Fi to update, my 4G mobile data should've been fine.) Now it has gotten to the point where I can't update any apps even manually. I click the "update" icon and the progress circle shows up but doesn't start increasing. It just stays stuck. How can I fix this?

I'm also unable to download/install any new apps. This happens with all of the apps I've tried to install so it is not app specific issue. I have rebooted my phone, checked my App Store and internet settings, logged out and logged in on my Apple ID. I have also reset my network settings. I have tried downloading with both Wi-Fi and mobile data with apps that do not require Wi-Fi to intall. All multiple times, and over the time period of few days. I don't have any restrictions on.

When I click the "install" button, it just shows the progress circle without the middle square and it stays stuck with no progress. Sometimes the app shows as a white icon on my home screen but not everytime. If it does, I can not directly delete it but I can stop the "installing" on App Store which makes the white icon go away eventually. I have one app that survived installing past the white icon stage but got stuck on "waiting". I may click it but nothing happens.

I have iPhone 6, and 9.3.1 software.

I am really desperate for an answer, please.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.1

**Update**

Did a full backup/restore. At first that seemed to fix it but then I had trouble again downloading apps. I had to run out for a bit and decided to try it completely away from home on LTE. It worked flawlessy. Both App Store and iTunes Store.

Now I'm back home and it SEEMS to be working ok on my home wifi.

Perhaps it was something in my home network it didn't like. On the bright side the back/restore also fixed the playlist order problem (where it won't save the changes you've made to song order in a playlist) in the music player.

Hello!

I recently experienced the same problem and I think I might have the answer for you.

First make sure everything is backed up to ICloud.

Secondly go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Content and Serttings.

After it’s done deleting everything off your phone make sure to pick “Backup from ICloud” when it asks you to get all your info back!

I hope this helps like it did with me to y’all.

Your issue is not related to this thread. Next time, make sure you are posting your question in a relevant thread, or, you can submit your own question.

You cannot delete the App Store app, so here are the things you need to check:

1. Swipe two fingers down the middle of the screen, and in the Spotlight Search bar, type in App to see if the App Store is listed. If you see it listed, then make sure it wasn't accidentally moved into a folder (the folder name will display on the list). If it is in a folder, then tap on the folder name, then when the folder contents is displayed, move the App Store app out of the folder.

2. See if it has been restricted: Go to Settings>General>Restrictions, and make sure that you don't have the "Allow" option turned off for the three App options at the bottom of the "Allow" list. If they are off, turn them on, and the App icon will show up again. Check all of the Home screens, if necessary.

3. If you are still having problems locating it, then reset your Home Screen by going to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will not delete any of your apps, but it will rearrange the icons so that the Apple core apps are on the first Home screen.

Best of luck,

1. The same problem as the OP who I replied too. That's pretty evident isn't it?

2. If I knew why I can't download or update apps I wouldn't be on here asking.

3. Not sure what you mean by "where" but I'm at home

4. Same as OP who I replied too. I get the progress circle spinning but doesn't progress beyond that.

I've tried every troubleshooting advice given in this thread.

You do it through the App Store on the iOS device:

App Store - Apple

There is an Update tab at the bottom of the App Store screen, and you can download old apps by tapping on your name/photo at the top of the screen, and then follow the prompts to find your purchased apps that are not yet downloaded.

You can also set up Automatic Downloads and Automatic Updates under Settings>iTunes & App Store.

Cheers,

GB
