iPad Pro 9.7 Random Restart

Normally wouldn't think much of this but, I have a 2 day old iPad Pro 9.7 128GB that has restart on me twice so far. In the middle of using it, it will cut to the Apple logo on the black background for a minute before returning to the passcode screen. Oddly enough, it will accept Touch ID in place of a passcode, something it doesn't usually do when it loses power. Any idea on the cause or how to figure it out? I chatted with the tech support but they only help they could provide was to do a restore. I just performed it, but my concern is that I installed an app or enabled something causing the iPad to crash and it'll simply continue to do that due to the bad app.

My random restarts stopped with 10.2 but this ipad has multiple problems. The only things the techs can tell you to do is to factory reset. The problems keep changing. One time it was freezing and now pages in Safari turn white. Apple won't admit that these ipads are defective. They will do nothing except factory resets. How many times do you need to reset the iPad to get it to work for awhile until Apple admits there is a problem..They won't admit any of their products are defective.

I Literally read your post from mail, went to safari, used app switcher to go back to mail and it crashed. I wanted to see if what you said could be replicated and it was immediately replicated. I tried to replicate again, and no luck. I've tried switching from safari, back to mail, many times since then and it doesn't crash. I'm not sure how or why this happens but it's not easily replicated, but it obviously does happen.

It is somewhat random in that we can't nail down a 100% repeatable scenario, other than multitasking and mainly app switching. I keep seeing a "reason" in the jetsam events referencing VM-pagefile errors - this to me means there is a bug in memory handling in the 9.7" iPad Pro, which also explains why it only happens occasionally when switching apps, which changes the active app and puts other apps into holding parts of the memory. My guess is still that there is a chunk of leftover code for iOS on the A9X that thinks it should have 4gb RAM instead of just two, and when it attempts to park an active app in a memory space that is beyond the addressable RAM it panics and jetsam kicks in to emergency jettison apps from active memory. This is also why after it happens once it is usually a while before it happens again as the memory has been "cleaned out".

This has actually been an issue for a while, at least 9.1 if not longer. It seems that it happens way more frequently on my iPad Pro 9.7 which is my gripe. I've seen videos like this in the past but it never actually happened to me, until I got the iPad Pro 9.7. This Springboard crash happens frequently to me now, never had this problem on my old Air.

I have been to the genius bar several times and have also filed bug reports. Apple says it is a software bug and will be fixed in an update. My bug reports have been flagged as a duplicate issue that has already been reported. I hope the next update will fix it. I had 3 replacements and they all have done this.
