iPad Pro 9.7 Random Restart

Normally wouldn't think much of this but, I have a 2 day old iPad Pro 9.7 128GB that has restart on me twice so far. In the middle of using it, it will cut to the Apple logo on the black background for a minute before returning to the passcode screen. Oddly enough, it will accept Touch ID in place of a passcode, something it doesn't usually do when it loses power. Any idea on the cause or how to figure it out? I chatted with the tech support but they only help they could provide was to do a restore. I just performed it, but my concern is that I installed an app or enabled something causing the iPad to crash and it'll simply continue to do that due to the bad app.

My random restarts stopped with 10.2 but this ipad has multiple problems. The only things the techs can tell you to do is to factory reset. The problems keep changing. One time it was freezing and now pages in Safari turn white. Apple won't admit that these ipads are defective. They will do nothing except factory resets. How many times do you need to reset the iPad to get it to work for awhile until Apple admits there is a problem..They won't admit any of their products are defective.

This is a good idea! Let us inform every major tech site, which reviewed the so called best ipad ever. I am from germany. I will inform Golem and Heise now.

By the way: Every iPhone 6S Plus had an hardware lack in 2015. I am not sure if the problem is solved now. I will see it, if i change my iPhone again, because of this lack. Apple please wake up and come back to old times where we get high quality products for lots of our money. Please excuse me for my broken english.

I was going to say here that this needs to get out to the media, but you questioned it already. I already posted this to Tweakers.net, the biggest Dutch tech site. I suggest you inform your favourite tech sites as well. A mail with a link to this discussion will suffice.

This makes up a juicy story... as Apple should be aware of this but did not undertake any action to inform the public. However, it's the customers that make the brand.

I have Chrome installed and avoid Safari. I've experienced this glitch twice on the same day. That was two weeks ago. Since then, my iPad has not crashed. I stopped using Safari, have not recorded a video. Nothing else has changed. Still use split screen to check messages while watching YouTube or reading news etc. I use the pencil frequently and do a bunch of other stuff that I normally do. Video streaming apps work just fine.

I realize that finding a pattern to such abnormal behavior is a tedious task but it would be cool to be the one to find that pattern 😎. Especially for those experiencing frequent crashes.

I received my IPad 9.7 on March 31. I am now on my thrid IPad Pro 9.7. I have had numerous phone call with Senior Advisors and have tried just about everything from resets to starting from factory resets and nothing has helped. At first, I was told that they were not getting many reports about this and they don't read these discussions. Finally, I was asked to send the data from my IPad to engineering when it had springboarded so they could see what happened. You would think that with all the testing that is supposed to happen before they put a product on the market things like this would not happen. This is widespread and there has been no communication from Apple about it. I am starting to loose my patience with them.

I went through 3 replacements also and talked to senior techs. I filed bug reports and they were flagged as a duplicate bug so apple is aware of the problem. I was also told by the apple store when a senior tech sent me there for a fourth replacement that it is known issue and will be fixed with a software update. So they wouldn't exchange again. I agree exchanging didn't help. So i guess we wait.

Just read your post and was switching back to mail and it crashe again. I would think his would be a top priority for Apple but I guess they would rather keep replacing them instead of fixing the problem. The other thing that upsets me is being required to set up as new before they will try to adress the isssue. I have spent countless hours setting up as new and have never had it fix any issue I have had.

My husband's and my new iPad Pros both do this. It isn't daily, I would say maybe 2-3 times per week. It's not a crippling problem, but definitely not good for such an expensive brand new device. However, this has come up over on MacRumor forums too, so it seems pretty widespread, My husband and I have totally different color ones too, and they have the same basic issue. Sometimes it just glitches out for 10 seconds, and other times I have to force an entire reboot.

We haven't gone to trade them in since it's obvious it's a general issue that won't be fixed by trading in.

I'm just surprised the media hasn't picked up on it yet. Maybe this week. I just checked for news articles and couldn't find any. But the Apple forums and MacRumor forums are full of complaints.
