iPhone 6 not recognized by MacBook Pro

Ok, so I know most will say the cable is most likely either not original Apple or is faulty .

However, my daughter has an iPhone 6 and I have used her cable too, and still have the same problems.

Therefore, likely cable is not the issue.

My questions to the community are -

1. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

2. Can anyone suggest a cause & fix?

If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support

Most likely there is dirt in the Lightning connector on the bottom of your phone. Try cleaning it with a bright light and a non-metallic tool such as a toothpick. Get it spotlessly clean.

Check you are using the original or Apple replacement cord. Some third party cables only transfer power and no data signal.
