I removed the keyboard and noticed that the connecting edge was not straight, and the portion with the pins was slightly lower than the lower than the rest of the edge. Just flexed it a smidge to raise the pins and problem is solved!

Well, finally failed, ”accessory not supported”. The iPad and keyboard had been sitting closed for a couple of hours. Picked it up and got a flashing “battery” and flickering main screen, then the accessory not supported. Tried the “type” position on the search bar and the screen keyboard showed up, even with the physical keyboard being “locked and ready”. Sigh 😔

I have gone through 3 new keyboards and none of them work for long. I am returning and getting my money back. Apple giving new keyboards does not matter because they don't work either... I have tested my iPad Pro with the full Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and it works fine, so it is not the iPad. Really disappointing, you would think that if Apple really wanted the iPad Pro to be the Surface Killer they would do it with a product that worked. Typing on the iPad screen does not work for me. If I knew I would be having these much trouble I would NEVER have bought the iPad 12.9 Pro. For over $1200 spent you would hope that the keyboard would work??????? #verydissappointingapple

I have been a loyal Apple customer from the first launch. I have spent hours with Apple support trying to sort out this issue. unfortunately there is no Apple shops where I am located but Inreally feel they have lost the plot in burying their heads in the sand in ignoring this problem. Apple used to mean quality and reliability. I really feel let down by them. I have rest my device to factory settings and still no success the beeping noise persists and I get no an approved device message.

I first received the same error message about "Accessory not supported" like everyone else. After contacted with Apple Support, they said that I should go to Apple store and I did. Then the store replace the keyboard under the extended warranty of this item by Apple. Anyway the new keyboard is priced less (-$40), though I did not pay for the replacement. The new keyboard did not produce error message anymore, but it is still mostly not responsive. Each time I needed to type, the on-screen keyboard pops up indicating that the attached keyboard was not recognized. It happens about 99% of the time. I try to disconnect and reconnect a few times, the keyboard will come back to work for a while, then die again. Too much trouble to bother with the $139 (down from $179 I paid) crap made by Apple. So, Apple does sells craps. I remembered that Steve Job said once, Apple did not sell craps. I guess the policy changed after Steve passed away.

I called tech support and they told me to post on the forums. I think they are tired of people calling about it and not having any answer for why it is happening. I’m not sure how Apple can hope to compete with laptops and other tablets if they cannot even get the keyboard working consistently. Based on the comments lists it looks like a lot of people who ordinarily do not take the time to post on these boards are signing up and taking the time to comment out of frustration.

Hi,

the same probleme. I went in an Apple store and they said me that i was the first person with this problem. While i was explaining my problem other persons in the Apple store said that they have the same problem and i know that there are many friends and collegues which cannot work for these reason.

The Apple store didn't change my Keyboard and for me is unbeliveable that for a 179,00 € hardware purchased for work reason there is not a solution.

Try getting Apple to take interest in you live outside the states.

They basically told me to go **** myself here in NZ even though the problem was happening before my warranty ended. They said, tough, you're outa warranty, you want us to look at it? It'll cost you $100 just for an inspection and we'll need your iPad for three days. If it's a repair job we'll just bill you want it takes.

"Gee, thanks, but it's my work iPad so it' hard to go without for three days and I've had this issue for nearly 6mths interimitently and..."

'Tough nouggies - get in line and pay up' was their response.

I have also tried all the, what seems stupid, ideas. Laying the whole contraption out flat, nothing. Connect in stand by, or with screen on, nothing. Different angles, nothing. Connected it on my desk, my couch, my footstool, nothing. Tried not looking at it while I typed, with positive thoughts, nothing.

I have also tried with my pencil on and off, nothing. As above, left my pencil in one room and went to another, nothing.

I did go to Baskin Robbins today and it worked while I waited on a milk shake. Not joking, it really did start working.
