Advanced Region Format disappeared in iOS 10

Try changing the region to Canada, then select CHANGE TO ENGLISH (CANADA) when the Change Region prompt appears. You may have to reorder the language list manually.

With iOS 10, it appears that the region format depends on the LANGUAGE. For English, there are Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, UK, and US, while there are about 20 countries listed for Spanish. You don't get to see the language variants until you finish the initial setup process.

Too bad the feature has disappeared. Shows once again that Apple is very anglo-centric and doesn't really understand the importance of learning another language or even being multilingual/ multicultural. Would be great if I could have my calendar, weather and time back in Chinese characters and the rest of the phone in English. Have had that ever since I owned an iPhone until recently.. fingers crossed they fix that in the next release 🙂

But he wants to have his interface language in English with the days and months in French. I don't see how your suggestion will let him do that.

The difference is that putting Macedonian at the top of the list cannot change the system language, because iOS does not have a Macedonian localization.

What did you experiment with? The problem is that there is no Region called Canada (French), so you can't get the format which Brousky asked for -- e.g. French language but $ currency.

The feature is actually still available. Apple just removed the options inside te GUI.

Please fix this Apple. This is really a turn down 😟 Internationization support seems to get worse and worse throughout every update 😟

Seems to be working if you set preferred language order.

Probably Apple forget it or have chosen to abandon it. Really a terrible decision as I was used for years to have my device language in English, Region language in Dutch und under Advanced also Dutch as language. So Ha d had week days and months in Dutch.

I think it's a bug.

A very big one.

Maybe those settings should change automatically but they don't work properly.

Same concern here. I had my main iPhone language set as English and region language was set as Arabic. It's so annoying that I can't set this anymore, hopefully apple will fix this bug soon.

I've same problem too. My system language is Turkish but I need to use USA format for month and day names in numbers and I can not change that anymore. I must change all the system language to English for doing that. The old settings were excellent. I don't know how Apple passed the detail in ios10.

It's important because if you live in another country for work etc you can not use their formats w/out changing completely system language...It's big fault in ios I never seen before..

I've got the same issue! 😟 Apple, please apply a fix and bring this option back. Advanced language and region is one of the reasons why I stick with iPhone, offering this functionality enables me to keep up to speed on my language learning.

I Have this problem too. I do not speak arabic but i study in the middle east. So i get used to arabics numbers and time format. previous ios version let me set the numbers and date in arabics but still keeping english as my iphone languange. I hope Apple will bring back this feature in the next update.

I have the same problem. Moreover, the iPhone user guide says this feature is still there!! I reported this as a bug to Apple feedback system. Hope someone notices.
