I'd still be suggesting the feature does not work, since there is more evidence at the current time, pointing to the fact that Apple believes the user should be able to do this. And yes, everyone who does want it, should report it, either as a bug or as feedback.

What feature? it is not there, so it is not a feature.
it's there. you just can't select "trash" because it's greyed out. If it were not there the option would be removed entirely. like in iOS 7 and before... where edit simply let you mark, or select. The "trash" option is still present and not working. So the feature does not work.
You should stop writing about this if you never knew that Trash All existed. It has always been present in IOS 9.

Not sure I buy that. Trash is there and greyed out UNTIL you select a message to delete, then Trash is active. i.e., it appears to be working the way they designed it to work. If however, there was a "Trash All" that was greyed out, that would be entirely different. But there isn't a "Trash All" button.
Since iOS10 was in the hands of beta users for months prior to the official release, it would seem logical, this is not an oversight by Apple.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I'm interested in the subject and I have every right to participate in this thread. I don't need to you tell me what I can post about or not.
it was active in beta until beta 4... and there is a thread in the developer forums where the developers actually all agree this is an issue it needs to be fixed. most beta users are too busy fixating on the new stuff to pay attention to the mundane, every-day items. and even so, people in this very thread never realized it existed.

Thanks. That's interesting. Perhaps it is an oversight and when enough people say something, the feature will be restored. I agree with those who say don't use it if you don't want, but for those who would like it, they should have the option to use it.
Just Found this solution on the cult of mac website:
You can still trash all emails at once... it's just more convoluted.
Go to your inbox, Tap Edit, then Mark All, and then Mark All as Read. This will then close the Edit mode.
Tap Edit again, and tap the top message in the inbox. Press and hold the Move button with your thumb.
While holding the Move button, uncheck the top message, and then release the Move button.
You will then be on a screen with a trash icon, click it and your emails are deleted.
Not quite as simples as the old way but it solves the problem.
The manual says you need to select the messages you want to delete. There's no mention of being able to select all. I liked that feature. People saying they don't like the feature because they can accidentally delete their whole inbox probably don't realize your can recover it from the trash. Anyway, if apple consciously removed that feature they're stupid. Let's hope they put it back.
Of course, you may write about whatever you wish. I just assumed that a Level 6 would know what Mail features have always been present in IOS 9. The real issue is why an important feature in 9 was dropped in 10. I came to this thread to find out why the feature was dropped in 10...not to be told incorrectly that the feature never existed in the previous version. I apologize if my previous comment offended you.
Explain how you get to it, I still use 9.3.5 on one device and I have never seen it, so an expert like you could help me here.
Hey great! That does work. Odd that they seemed to have removed the freature altogether
Thank you!!
Thanks a bunch. That works the same as "Trash All" for me. The missing "Trash All" was the first thing I noticed after the IOS 10 upgrade.
