The Trash All button does not appear in your "All Inboxes"

if you have more than one email account in your mail app.

To see the "Trash All" setting, touch "Mailboxes," top left, then, in your Mailboxes screen, youll see the list of your email accounts, with "All Inboxes" at the top and your separate email accounts listed below that.

scroll down and you'll see each of your email accounts and their repositories, inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc.

Open those individual inboxes and when you press "Edit" you should see the Trash All button on the right, but you won't see in in IOS 10.

There was another thread posted where it was discussed that Apple did intentionally remove the feature. And the reason was simple. Evidently too many people accidentally deleted their entire inbox in one easy touch of a button. When the iPhone first appeared, Trash All was never an option. It must have been added in one of the software updates. Now it's been removed. I never needed or used that option. Hence why I didn't think it even existed.

Is it really so difficult for people to manage their inboxes in real time? I've never needed this option. I either trash messages that I don't need or store ones I do as they come in. How hard is it for people to do this?

Can you link the thread? Also, calm down. Silly me, I thought it wasn't so difficult to NOT delete your entire inbox.... by accident? It's much more useful to have this feature, and especially if you're someone who not only has a tonne of emails coming in, but also like to keep a clear inbox on device.

There are many alternatives too, but it seems really weird to remove a feature that was so recently implemented.

Likewise, by this logic we should see the headphone jack back on the next iPhone because too many users are accidentally cramming 3.5mm headsets into the bottom of the iPhone 7.... right?

I think we're going to see this feature come back.

also one more thing.... for what it's worth Apple's online user guide for iOS 10 states:

Delete multiple messages at once. While viewing a list of messages, tap Edit, select some messages, then tap Trash. If you change your mind, shake iPhone immediately to undo. ( http://help.apple.com/iphone/10/#/iphb02be90ba)

Which is kind of embarrassing, because i don't think Apple read that thread you're referencing.

Someone should tell them. 🙂

Tell them what. there is nothing wrong with that user guide, it works as it should...

This has honestly become a silly discussion. And I am calm. None of us has any clue why Apple gives or takes features away. If you want the link, it's posted in a post in this thread a page or so back. As to the ease of deleting ones entire mailbox, Apple maintained for a long time this was why they didn't include this feature. It would be too easy to wipe out one's mailbox. Evidently enough people asked for it and the Apple Gods granted their wish. Only to see them take it away with this iteration of iOS.

As to whether people will try to stick their 3.5mm headphone plugs in the lightning port, some probably will. It's amazing how people often buy something without any research or understanding of what they've purchased.

Come on razmee209, stay within context of what I was replying to...

rbrylawski claimed Apple intentionally removed the feature as it was stated in another thread.

I was being sarcastic.

It certainly would be easy enough to provide the capability and those who want it can have it, those who don't wouldn't have to worry about deleting all their messages on accident. There could be a setting to switch this on or off, so if you want it, switch on, else switch off. You can have the best of both worlds.

I often don't use the mail on my phone for several days and have 150 - 200 emails that I no longer care to see so delete all or trash all is what I want to use. I do NOT want to have to mark 150 - 200 emails manually and then delete them - that's just crazy.

You have no official statement from Apple on the removal of this feature. As I pointed out the user manual for iOS 10 online indicates this feature should work and it doesn't. You're pointing to a thread that provides assumptions. And you're continuing to talk as if all this is a matter of fact, which you shouldn't be doing, since again you have no definitive statement from Apple on the matter.

At this time it should be considered and treated as a bug until there is more confirmation it was indeed removed.
