iPhone 7 Plus Phone Call Sound Quality

In fact, I have now disable both 4G LTE and noise reduction and it works, only a bit metallic voice. I have also found that my "Faconnable" protection which I used to fold against the back of the iPhone was making this issue much worst. I suspect that the S/W is looking for the balance between the 3 mics and if you cover one of them you get the issue. This balance is only active during phone calls. I do not know if it is right but this should be confirmed by a genius. Anyway if this can help solve the issue for everybody this is great !

There are four microphones in your iPhone. The most obvious is the one you speak into at the bottom. Covering the others with your case might have an effect on noice cancelation. What happens when you use the two phones without the cover?

Where are the mics on a 7+, I know there's one behind the bottom right speaker and one between the camera and flash.

As far as I know, 3 on the front e.g.

- 2 below on each side of the DC plug

- 1 above

and 1 on the back between camera and flash as stated by Macgaspode.

I will do some more tests but the one I was hiding while speaking is the one on the back. I have not tried yet to cover the other ones.

I contacted a gentleman who's Executive Relations EMEIA in Ireland who instructed Applecare and Engineering to assist with my call quality issue. I received a 45min call today from Applecare who asked a number of questions from Apple Engineering, I don't know why Engineering couldn't call me directly to ask the questions, the Apple processes seem so convoluted at times, nothing is ever straight forward or logical. At the end of the call a request was made for access to my phone to acquire a debugging log, I've asked them to confirm if any website login details will be logged ie banks etc, they weren't sure so the call was terminated so that they could find out exactly what is logged before I give them permission to proceed. Does anybody know exactly what's logged by Apple during the logging process?

Apple engineers should have a number of returned iPhone 7 with the voice issue. Why have they not found a way to fix or at least acknowledge that they are looking into it

Same problem here, regular iphone 7.

Always happy with iphones since iphone 3, never had this problem before. Tried ever solution, nothing helps.

I went into Settings->General->Accessibility, scroll down to Phone Noise Cancellation and turned it off.

I tried turning LTE off and only for data. No change. Tried noise cancelling before with no luck

Sarahhhh1 - Did you have any success with getting the call quality issues resolved?

I got my lightning pods replaced and it seems to be working for me now.
