iPhone 7 gps and cell dropping

So, had my new phone for about 4 hours now and have had both GPS and cell service drop at the same time at least 8 times- typically only for about 2 minutes but as I was traveling and using navigation it was very difficult. Anyone else had this problem?

I don't think this is a fundamental problem with the iPhone 7 or antenna performance. While there are probably some one off hardware issues being reported in this thread it really does seem to be a software issue with how the phone interacts with specific networks.

I switched back to AT&T and have had no problems. As good or even better reception in the same areas as an iPhone 6 and iPhone SE. While I was interested in switching to Verizon, I get the same level of service from AT&T in the main areas I use the phone, and I was unimpressed by the lack of acknowledgement of this problem (whether it's the carrier or Apple's problem).

I'm having only the GPS with both my iPhone 7 and my wife's iPhone 7. We have different colors of the base 32G model and are on sprint. In certain areas GPS can't find location but data/voice seem to be ok. Sprint confirmed that network is ok in those areas. We both upgraded from iPhone 6s and did not have these GPS issues when driving in the same areas. Also updates to iOS 10 when I still had the iPhone 6s and don't recall any issues with GPS then either. Did various steps with both AppleCare phone support as well as at a genius bar at an Apple store. Diagnostics show nothing wrong with the phones. Did various steps (resetting network settings, turning off/on location services, etc) any nothing worked so far. Apple store genius bar did a few more resets and I'm in the process of testing to see if it helped. I'm supposed to get a follow up call in a few days and if nothing is resolved they will look at swapping out the phones. I'm leaning towards this being a software issue rather than a network/hardware issue.

I have had the 7+ 256GB since September 25th, and have had this problem since day 1. Have called Verizon, done a soft and hard reset, have restored my phone, and have even gone into the Apple Store and have had the device replaced, and STILL facing the same issue. Not catching LTE with Verizon in spots that I've always had LTE service. No service when using Waze and Maps. Oddly enough, I noticed somewhat of a pattern. I removed my case this morning and have since only had 1 issue where my phone was on 3G instead of LTE. Makes me wonder if these cases are somehow blocking the antennas. Or maybe it's just coincidence. Anyone else seeing that?

I have the same exact problem. What the **** is Apple doing to fix this? This did not happen on my iPhone 6 or any other iPhone. I have Verizon Wireless but it seems to be a problem with all carriers.

Obviously many of us are having this problem and there needs to be an update. My phone dropped GPS and cell service about five times in the course of about a one hour trip Using Waze and Google maps.

I have an iPhone 7 128 GB on Verizon network, and I am experiencing the same frustrating problem as well. It seems to happen more (or at least I recognize it more) when I am driving and using GPS. However every area where I live (and I have never had any signal drop on my iPhone 6), I am consistently getting dropped signals and in random places on my iPhone 7. Even in my home where I've always had a strong signal, I am continually getting dropped off the network. At first when it started to happen, I was able to go into airplane mode and turn it off and then on again. This seem to correct the problem, when it came back on the network for a short time, however, now I have to reset my phone every time it happens.

I have reset all settings, I have reinstalled the OS, I have even performed a DFU upgrade, and reinserted the SIM card after cleaning it, none of this helps.

Apple needs to resolve this quickly, because I use my phone for work and if I cannot receive signals this is of no use for me.

Had a long talk with AppleCare rep. As is stands it seems to only be an issue with Verizon and Sprint. My situation is being escalated to engineering and hopefully I'll hear something soon. It seems like the issue has something to do with how the cell towers are communicating with the device. The cell towers/network (i.e. sprint/verizon/etc) are communicating in a way that the iPhone 7 isn't able to connect properly but it does work with other devices. To me, it sounds like an issue with either the hardware/software (Apple) AND the network (Verizon/Sprint) Hopefully this issue is resolved soon!
