iPhone 7 Overheating

SO after inspection I found out that the lightning cord I used to charge my phone was a generic one. Generic Not an apple cord. Last night I plugged it in with an apple cord and it did not heat up.

NOw I have an issue with some albums that I had in my music library that are not playing.

bbattery life is not bad. Phone is on heavy use from 8 am. YouTube, internet, messaging, insta, ETC.. everything but phone calls I guess And it lasts till about 6ish.

ON sundays where I have to entertain my wife with normal use it'll last till 10 pm. Good 14-16 hours.

I Got an iPhone 7 Plus 128gb on Sep 30th. 2 days later I got the overheat warning and it shut down. Had the phone replaced at an Apple Store. 2 days later, the replacement phone won't turn on after getting too hot to touch. Apple has a problem here that needs to be acknowledged. I'm now out a phone because there are none in stock.

I Was having the same problem.

somehow resetting all settings kinda fixed it.

im not sure tho, I've yet to heavily use it and see how hot it gets.

But i notice it gets really hot when i use FaceTime video.

Surprisingly, my phone stopped over heating. I did nothing to it. I think its a one off experience when you start using it, and then the problem goes. It over heated for only the first two days, so much I could not even keep it in my jeans pocket. Strange!

I've had my iPhone 7 for just over a week now and it only recently in the past two or three days started overheating to insane amounts. It gets super hot after I send just a quick text and has a really hard time cooling down. I have it sitting on my desk now and it has left the desk where it is resting at a warm temperature without the phone box cooling down a bit. The battery has gone from me ending the day at 30-40% to being below 20% by lunch time, which is about four hours after I've unplugged it in the morning. For almost all of these 4 hours, the phone is just sitting on my desk or in my pocket, as I'm at school. It gets worse every time I open my phone to send a text, and especially if I try to listen to music! Just updated to 10.0.3 last night and the problem is the exact same, even a little worse... Switched almost all push notifications off, brightness has been down all the way, and I continually wipe apps from the background activity right after usage. I don't use any games or any other apps, and since I noticed the problem, I only use my iPhone to text and call. I tried music for a second but got nervous with how much heat resulted. Restarted my phone today and turned my phone off all night last night in the charger as well, but no better today... Any help?

I'm having the same problem. I have found it to be the YouTube app that is to blame. If I had used the YouTube app, the next time I went back to my iPhone 7, it would be hot and I would lose lots of battery power...say 40% in 45mins. Also, in the lock screen would be the play/pause control, as if something was still playing in YouTube, even though it wasn't. Once I fully closed YouTube (double -click the home button and swipe away the app), the problem stopped. Now, if I watch a YouTube video, I make sure that I fully close the app each time until YouTube resolve the issue. BBC iPlayer and other video playing apps do not cause this problem.

I'm just off to tell YouTube now.

I have had the same problem. When I got my iPhone 7 Plus towards the end of September, I had it plugged into my computer and was restoring from the cloud onto my phone. I noticed it was getting extremely hot. Not warm, HOT. I immediately called Apple. The tech said that it could be due to the fact that the processor was working hard and for a while to restore everything from the cloud to my phone and it shouldn't do that anymore once everything is restored on the phone and I use it everyday. She asked me "how hot" it was. I told her that when I put it up to my face, it was extremely hot, I couldn't hold it in my hand long. She then said 'well if you put it to your face will it give you a burn?" (That question started getting me mad considering we're talking about a BRAND NEW $900+ phone and she's talking what degree of hot the phone was) I told her I didn't hold it to my face long enough to find out but I felt that had it been in the case I bought, it would have started to melt it. By then, it was done restoring and I did notice it starting to cool down. She took notes and said that it's all on record if I have the problem again. I did notice 2 days ago when I was just using it to check mail & go on FB that it was starting to heat up again. Not quite as hot as when I first got it, but it was warmer then it should have been. If it does it again, I'm either calling them up again or going to Apple store for another phone. Now that I'm seeing how many others are having this problem, I'm getting very mad.😠

Yea same here. I listen to music all night long and when I went to grab my phone it pretty much burned me...

You should call Apple to have them document that in case it happens again. OR- go right to the store and tell them. They need to know how much this is happening.

I'm also having the same issue with my iPhone 7 (Matte Black). I let Apple know, but they haven't provided any solutions. I hope we don't have the same issue as the other phone manufacturer. I documented my complaint with safeproducts;gov just in case.

Hi all this is my first I phone ever and I am really disappointed, firstly it has an issue which no body can answer, sometimes play pause button of music will stop responding in Audio and video, I used to restart my phone but then I got my phone replaced and the problem remains the same then I noticed if I change my region settings playback starts working what a correlation so everytime this iissue comes I change my region secondly this heats up a lot. After spending huge money this is frustrating even my nexus 4 performs better

My iPhone 7 is overheating too. When it charges, it charges slowly, or it sometimes drains the battery. I really hope iPhone 7 won't explode like Samsung Galaxy Note 7. What I did is cooling my iPhone 7 on a cooling pad and it feels cooler. I was wondering that I should get a cooling case

I'm having same issue as yours. My Iphone 7 Plus 256 Jet Black heat up easily. The background became more yellowish compare to my Iphone 6 Plus. Apple engineering team should look into this issue before Iphone 7 Plus blown off.

Has Apple officially acknowledged this problem and if so what is their response?
