iPhone 7 - Keeps Freezing!!!

I have just taken on the iPhone 7. I have noticed a couple of issues:

1) Freezing: When I open, contacts or whats app... it just stays on that screen. The lock button, or home button does not work. This will last for about 1.5 minutes!!!! Then the phone will be ok, but may take a few pictures ... this is maybe me pressing the lock and home button together

2) Camera - a lot of the times when I open the camera, I get just a black screen where the camera is, then after a couple of seconds my camera comes on....

Has any one else had these issues, and any help with it? I presume its an ios issue rather than a phone issue?

Continue to hold the Power button and press and hold the Volume down button located on the left side of your iPhone. Hold both buttons as the iPhone powers off and back on; release both buttons when the Apple logo appears on the screen.

YES these exact problems are happening to me too! It locked up on me when I was using my phone for GPS, while on a highway going somewhere I'd never been, and I almost got lost! It's probably happened to me about 10 times now (I had the phone since about a week after it came out)

Also the camera is almost always black screen when i open it up. Is this a factory glitch? I'm concerned.

Thanks for posting. At least I know it's not JUST my phone!!

Same thing here. Camera went black, iMessage freezes for a number of minute, then crashes and restarts. I took the first iPhone 7 Apple store and they switched to another new one. But the new one also has the same issues as before. apple Store guys insist this is the first they've heard of this issue. Let's hope it's a software issue that they resolve quickly rather than a defective product.

I have this issue every. single. day. This is my 2nd iPhone 7 and both have done this. I originally had the AT&T version, the regular size one, and then returned it for the Verizon one. Both of them did this on a daily basis, I thought I was just crazy at first. It's never within the same app, or under the same circumstances. Yesterday it was while I had the lock screen up, I couldn't do anything. The power button didn't turn the screen on/off, the home button wouldn't unlock my phone, but it did "click" so it's recognizing that I'm touching it. I've had this happen in messages, in my email, while I was in snapchat, while I was trying to change a song that was playing, etc. The screen does respond still, so whatever app you're in you can still control, but you're stuck in it for the time being. I was rebooting it at first but then i realized if you wait a full minute, sometimes two, it will go back to normal as if there was never an issue. It's very frustrating and I'm debating on just returning it and going back to my old phone, I have a few days to decide before my 14 day return period.

From all the replies here, this isn't an isolated issue. At the same time, it must not be rampant or it would be on the news.

I am a long time Apple customer. This is the first time I have seen "it just works" not be a way to describe my experience as an Apple customer. In addition, Apple repeatedly tells me to set up as a new device even though that has failed as a solution.

I also think Apple needs better diagnostics.Their diagnostic software detects the restarts but not the cause.

I hope Apple will step up soon.

I am getting really annoyed with this issue. It happens at random. When I pull my phone out of my pocket and try to access it, the home button doesn't work. I check all other buttons and they don't work either. All of them are unresponsive. This irritates me so I start pushing buttons. After about a minute or so, the screen flashes like it is taking a bunch of pictures. my home button and screen starts to work. I find that I have somehow taken several pictures, mostly screen shots.

Hello: I also have this problem on my 6+. It seems to be an issue with the keyboard in the new iOS. I simply switched over to Gboard (which is Google's keyboard) and deleted the "english" keyboard that comes standard with the phone. You can do this in Settings>General>Keyboard>Keyboards>Add New Keyboard. First you'll need to download Gboard from the app store. Then you should see that as an option under Third-Party Keyboards in the Add New Keyboard menu. Hope this helps you with this ridiculously frustrating issue!
