(MacOs Sierra) Audio issue

I have two audio issues after upgraded to MacOs 10.12 today.

1. The audio balance automatically moved to left channel (It usually at the center)

2. The volume gained up to like 75%

I have adjusted my own but above two issues happens again every time I reboot my mac.

P.s1.Tried to turn off the new Siri function but it doesn't work.

P.s.2. Using external speakers

I have the same problem with my KEF X300A's and Mac OS Sierra 10.12.4. Not only does the balance start of favoring the right or left but now the speakers will not play any sound at all and I have to turn them on and off to get them to work again. I was thinking about using the headphone jack connector to my MacBook 17inch and see if that fixes the problem. Does anybody have a workaround or fix?

Balance Lock works well, but is only needed with a USB connection. Using the headphone jack eliminates the imbalance issue, but is not optimum for several reasons. 1st, instead of a digital to digital connection provided by the USB connection, you be using a digital to analog and back to digital connection. 2nd, after about 5-10 minutes of no outgoing audio, the speakers go into standby mode (red light).

If your Mac has an available Thunderbolt port, the Kanex Thunderbolt to USB3 and eSATA adapter will fix the USB audio dropout issue.

I have an open Thunderbolt port but I like to use it for external hard drives. Could you possibly send me a link to the Kanex Thunderbolt to USB3 and eSATA adapter you used to fix the audio dropout issue? Will it definitely work? I don't mind paying for the cord I just want to make sure that the speakers will work as intended when I'm finished. Thanks for your help Lanny.

Hello sai fan,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that you have some audio issues after upgrading to macOS Sierra. I know how important it is for your audio to stay at the settings you select. I recommend testing the issue while your Mac is in Safe Mode and/or in a new user account. The following articles have the steps you will need to test the issue in both Safe Mode and in a new user account:

Safe Mode

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Best Regards.

I have been having this issue ever since the introduction of Sierra.

In my case, it's been happening with a pair of KEF X330As when connected via USB. These speakers have built in DACs.

I also have an external USB powered DAC, a Meridian Explorer, that doesn't have the issue.

I've reported the issue to both Apple and KEF, but so far they have not responded beyond KEF saying that they couldn't duplicate the issue.

Additionally, I have been having random audio dropouts since purchasing the KEFs in May 2016. The Dropout issues has been with Yosemite, El Capitan, and now Sierra.

You're not alone.

Hello Lanny and sai fan, I have the exact same problem. I'm a KEF X300A Wireless, iMac 5K late 2014, MacBook Air mid 2012 user. My speakers sometimes disconnect form the Mac and the balance goes left since updating to macOS Sierra. It's super annoying😕. I have tried clean install the Sierra but it doesn't help. In El Capitan and Yosemite, it works totally fine connecting with USB. It has been two months now. Let's post here if there is a solution.😉
