Mac book is very slow after updating to mac os sierra. I try to open an app and its very slow, even finder
How do I fix this?

Yes, my problem solved....gosh, i have been frustrating for 3 days even called to the ISP to complaint the speed of the internet connection...lolx..my bad..is actually Mac itself...now I turn off Iclouds, everything back to usual.
I have finally figured out why, after upgrading to macOS Sierra on my Mini Mac 2010, it runs slow. It is nothing more than MEMORY. This machine had 2GB of physical memory and 300GB of storage. Sierra needs more PHYSICAL MEMORY to make everything move fast. I purchased two (2) 4GB from Crucial which lifted my PHYSICAL MEMORY up to 8GB. FINALLY, my MacMini is running like a champ - just the way it is supposed to be. I had read all the other threads and searched the internet for the answer. NO ONE had every posted anything about memory. They stated it would take time for the applications to catalogue - sync - blah blah blah. Now, the memory is priced reasonably and TOTALLY simple to install. Check out a video on YouTube to learn how to remove the old PHYSICAL MEMORY and install the new. It took me ten minutes and couldn't wait to share this info with everyone.
Any thoughts on mine. ITS IS SO SLOW

I did have the same problem for the same Mac ; turned off the SIRI (which I do not use frequently) and it now operates as I used to.

I went ahead and ordered an 8GB memory upgrade after seeing almost 100% memory usage with 4 GB. What to do with the old memory?
Keep it in case you have problems down the line with memory so you can put it back in to see if that fixes the problem. It's very unlikely but has happened to others on occasion.
Reset SMC and PRAM after update to help you fix this problem.

Did you read anything at all in this Discussion?
The performance is based on the time for Etrecheck to do its run.
Rerun Etrecheck and post the entire report.
Okay, I do notice that it does speed up after a reboot. I don't have anything automatic loading on startup.
