iPhone 7 screen scratches?

Has any one come across having very light scratches on the screen? I just got my phone 3 days ago and it has several light scratches.. i have no idea how.. I was very careful with it. Im surprise how sensitive this screen is.. idk if maybe its a defect on the coating of the screen. very disappointed in it.

You certainly don't have to do anything you don't want to. I think it's reasonable to assume Apple is using Corning glass but no way to be 100% for sure. I have had the first gen iPhone, so I have you one up on the iPhone 4. The iPhone 7 is the easiest to scratch. That's my experience and I've observed it with countless others.

Here is further research in gorilla glass 5; a statement directly from Corning:

Gorilla Glass 5 is designed to improve the drop performance and not necessarily designed to improve the scratch performance.

Why?

I think it's a distinction with out much of a difference. But, if it makes you happy to think this is a contest and that you won a point, that's your option.

I spent 10 years managing the service/repair department for a retail location for a major cellular provider. I have more experience with damaged phones than most people.

Unless and until there is verification that Apple uses Gorilla Glass, while this statement may be true, it's also not terrible relevant.

Even my iPhone 7 is having hairline scratches on front screen. The quality of the glass is worst. It is worthless. I spoke to Apple customer care and I heard many different answers from them. They just trying to escape from providing the warranty (repair/replace). I wonder why Apple is charging that much cost while they can't provide quality glass screen.

This is the very bad experience to me with Apple iPhone7. The support that I got from customer support is not good.

I am a returning apple iPhone customer. I have noticed some lower quality aspects of the the Apple product and the screen is one of them compared to the competitors. I had a plastic pen in my pocket with my phone and the other plastic scratched the screen. I was waiting for my screen protector to arrive since I didn't like the other one I purchased. I hope they do some improvements to the screen since it was other loyal Apple users who convinced me to return to using Apple again.

I recently bought the IPhone 7 not even a month ago. It already has fine scratches on it. I've never had this problem with any other phone I've bought. I'm usually an android person but I was talked into giving Apply a try. They want $800 for the phone, an extra $100 something for Apple care. I figured for an $800 phone I wouldn't have to worry about it being trash enough to have to spend another $100 for apple care. Big mistake because now they want $130 to replace my screen. I've never been more disappointed. I switched from apple to android a couple years ago. Decided to give apply another try. My biggest mistake. I will not be purchasing anymore apple products. I'll be sticking to android.

I have this same issue. Happened on two of my iPhone 7 Jet Black devices that arrived on launch day -- two visible horizontal hairline scratches across the screen that's bugging me. Maybe we had a bad batch?

Apple Support told me to bring it in and get it replaced (or else if I were to get the screen replaced there would be a fee). Any resolution on your half?

Same issue here.. couple of days after I got my jet black 256gb I spotted a perfectly vertical scratch along the screen... 😢 Since it just happened to my gf I searched online and see you have the same issue. I've had every iPhone since 2007 and never once had this kind of scratch. Apple said I need to pay to replace it under limited warranty But then when I came to the store they said I'll have to wait weeks before they can replace my phone.

I've had my iPhone 7 for about three weeks. A few days ago I noticed tiny scratches above the front camera and earpiece. I tried looking again and couldn't see them. Then just now standing in Starbucks I notice them again. Seems like certain lighting conditions make them easy to see. Regardless, they're still there. Every iPhone I've ever had since the 4 I've never used screen protectors on. Cases yes, and this has had a case since day one. I've never had a situation where I've ever damaged a phone either. Never have I ever seen one scratch on those previous screens either. Sorely disappointed.

I've had my iphone 7plus 256 gig for almost a month and found a hairline scratch parallel between the buttons. I've had an iphone 6 and an iphone 5c for work and I'm not as careful with those as I am with my personal iPhone 7 plus. My prior two phones were a Samsung Galaxy S6 and S4. Before that, it was iPhones. I thought I would give Apple another try since they have a water resistant phone, better battery life and finally a decent camera. I have never had a scratch with any of those phones until this one. I always keep my phone by itself in a pocket with nothing else. Everything else is separate. If it takes very little to scratch, then the durability of this screen is defective. I hope this isn't a situation where Apple rushed a product out to public to make numbers instead of producing a quality phone. I am going to try the Apple Store this evening to see what they can do.
