iPhone on iOS 10 keeps asking for Hotmail password

Hello,

I've been having this issue since upgrading to iOS 10 from iOS 9. I have 3 hotmail accounts on the iphone, once I enter the password it will work correctly for a while (usually one day) and then ask for the passwords again with a message stating an error occured and iOS needs the hotmail permission again.

I noticed this often occurs when I wake up in the morning and I haven't used iPhone for a few hours. This issue never occured on iOS 9. I recently upgraded from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7 and the issue still occurs.

Is this an iOS 10 bug? I've also tried deleting all my accounts and adding them again with no luck. My accounts do not use a two-step verification.

I'm currently using iOS 10.0.2 on iPhone 7

Try deleting your Hotmail account from your iPhone and reinstalling it selecting Exchange rather than Outlook.com as your account type. This fixed it for me on both a live.co.uk and an outlook.com account.

I too have been having this issue, but all ive done is to hit cancel when the prompt comes up it hasnt stopped me opening mail

Delete the account then add it again using the "other" option, this way push isn't shown

as an option.

Mine keeps doing this as well and hasn't done it since I downloaded IOS 10 and its started doing it on my iPad now. I'm getting very annoyed now!

This is not a microsoft app though! Its apple's mail app built into ios 10. So i dont see how its a microsoft problem.

the problem did not start for me until 10.0.3.

one thing i noticed is that during the account setup login or password re-entering process its not a local app. Its a browser like window to Microsoft. So something was changed.

IOS 10.2 just won't work ANY hotmail account. PERIOD. Their OS is usually such a **** that they NEVER ever acknowledge any fault by them.

What worked for me was deleting the Hotmail account. Restart the phone. Reinstall the Hotmail account. I'm on ios 10.2.1.
