I have an iPhone 6s running the latest iOS (10.1.1) and recently my notes app has disappeared, I think it's probably related with the new operating system, the fact is that I can't find the app on the iPhone. I already tried searching for it on the phone with no success. In the mail app they don't have the backup of my recent notes and I don't have them synced with iCloud.
Does anyone know how can I get my notes back?

I FOUND MY NOTES!! go to your email on your phone. Under Gmail, scroll down to the notes folder. i opened it and they were all in there!!
I have the same issue. I just noticed my notes app is gone, so are all my notes on it. Frankly I thought my toddler son has done something to it, but then I realized he was sleeping all night!. I tried using few sofwares, but none of them were able to recover my notes. I read all messages here, and reset the home apps, but nothing. You can get the app back by reloading it from app store, but it doesn't return your notes. It is ridiculous that there is only one response to this question from 2016 and it is marked as "resolved", but in reality no one from Apple seems to care to come and write in response to all complaints in 2017, accepting their responsibility, that Apple's new IOS has caused this issue, and provide a solution.
I pay for icloud, but my notes do not get backed up on icloud. Also, the back up on iTunes is very old, as I use the notes on daily basis.
Very upset and angry at apple who can see these complaints and surely know about this problem but prefer to remain indifferent until they have sorted this issue out...all you are doing today is adding to the frustrations of many people.
Please address this mess from your IOS.

After years of Iphones i'm not going to bother with my next upgrade.
In their early days the response to user gripes was amazing, now Apple are just too large and unfocused for this to be a possible. Others have nearly cauight up and Apple's dilemma of being a company that has to keep growing when there's nowhere really to go without doing stuff that others do better (err. applemaps anyone?) is beginning to undermine them.
There again - if they solved my missing notes I might feel differently but judging by the threads this isn't happening anytime soon..
I have absolutely the same problem from yesterday. 😟 I bough Phone Rescue - didn't work. I backed up my phone - didn't work. I downloaded notes app again ...zero notes. I restored home screen - notes never existed....And after that...all night I am reading on internet all data concerning this issue.
This has also happened to me. I am annoyed by the last update and this is a prime example of why. I tried all of the recommendations and none of them restored the notes that were deleted as a result of the update. I did not delete them- now what?
We should ALL demand better of Apple! What’s next for our contacts to dissppear regardless of backups! I, like many of you list some really important information. Apple is forcing us to upgrade as well as subscribe to iCloud whether you can afford to or not!
I am also having this issue. All of a sudden I realized my Notes app was gone from its place and I searched everywhere for it. I couldn't find it, so I redownloaded it from the App Store, but I realized none of my notes were there. I tried checking a backup from iCloud and Mail, but nothing. I had many very important notes that are now all gone and I'm really scared that I won't be able to get them back. What should I do???
Me too. Judging by the lack of response I'm gonna guess the notes are gone? Ugh. If there is no way to get them back can I at least back them up off my computer? What would be the process of doing this without erasing all the notes from my computer as well?
When on your main home page, swipe left and you should come to a page where there is a search bar. Type in 'notes' and you should at least be able to get to your notes. I haven't figured out how to put the icon back on my home screen, though.....hope this helps!

I wonder if there's a way to sync to my computer to get my old notes. Or if I sync with my phone the notes will then be deleted off my computer too...

The phone deleted my Notes App, and I lost all of my notes. Ridiculous. The lack of response is all the answer we're going to get. They're gone.
I see that my notes are accessible via Gmail, but were you able to get them back onto your phone from there?
