I have the same issue too, where my battery stays 100% for longer than it is, then suddenly drops to 69%, or sometimes the phone just dies. I plug it back into power, and it's immediately up to 100%......😠

Seems apple is aware of something with at least the 6S. Taking my phone in on Saturday, 11/26/16
https://www.cnet.com/news/apple-free-iphone-6s-battery-replacement-unexpected-sh ut-down/
There's nothing I can add to this thread other than to parallel everyone else's complaints. My battery's been **** since 10.1.1. Restoring from new as the Genii like to recommend doesn't help. My phone will suddenly die at 27% or so, and then that's it.
I experience very similar issues as the original poster. My iPhone 6, purchased in June 2015 seems to lose its charge abnormally fast now and exhibits very strange battery level behavior.
In some instances, it will display somewhere around 20% remaining and shut off. Plugging it in to a wall charger and it immediately boots back up and displays 20+%
Other times I will notice that it rapidly drops from 20% to 0, but upon plugging into a charger, it immediately boots and displays 20% charge.
Then there are the rare instances where it seemingly runs for an unusual amount of time in non-power saving mode while displaying 1% battery.
Is it a battery problem? While possible, there is no way that the battery should be failing after 1.5 years. Could this be a similar problem that Apple is recalling the 6S for?
Is it an iOS problem?
No matter what the case may be, there seem to be an awful lot of people complaining of similar symptoms...
Same random switch off of the phone for me and my gf as we both have 6s . That's all from 10.1.1 Randomly on 50% or less it dies and if you try and switch on it says connect to charger. Leave for 10mins and it boots up and the battery is still the same % as when it died. Later it dies again.
A friend of mine on 6 is experiencing the same.
People on 10.0.1 are NOT. But we can't roll back to it as it is no longer signed by Apple.
Really POOR experience for a premium device! The whole downside started with iOS9 and its battery drain and sound/notifications issues that were fixed 6 months after initial release!!!
Very disappointed
How do you upgrade to that version if you are already on 10.1.1 (14B100). ?
When Steve Jobs was alive - he said about the iphone "it just works". Since his demise the catch cry is "it just doesn't work". Its a sad day for apple upgraders - you just can't trust the quality control apple uses any more- if indeed it still uses the process - rather they hastily update and let the end user find the faults. Apple has lost its reliabilty support base
I get responses from people on here that it's basically my fault, but the many complaints from what I'm reading here in several threads and all over the internet, documented cases and articles, that's simply not the case. I'm going home (USA) next month and am planning on upgrading to a new phone and have my sights set on the 7 plus, but after all the problems with hissing, battery life, overheating, and other issues, I'm thinking about getting another android phone. I don't want to spend all this money on iPhone and have it die in the middle of work. My iPad mini 4 is on 10.1.1 and I simply hate it. My battery drops greatly and I have all the settings how I like it. Screen dimmed low, no location or Bluetooth on, apps closed, notifications off, mail set to manual. I mean I prepared for everything but my battery drops rapidly. Just reading this thread in less that 10 minutes my battery dropped from 89% to 84%! That's just crazy!
Same problem using 10.1. My battery dies anywhere from 50-20%. What a disaster! It was a great device until know! This will be a rough fix for apple cuz it appears to be a hardware and software issue
I have a 5S which experienced the same issue since 10.1.1 (I'm currently on version 14B100). Yeah, it'd go down to 40ish percent and then simply die out. However, a replacement battery may have fixed the issue because my parts phone is experiencing a no-start without being plugged in with what was a 47% charged battery. While it's possible that OS 10 may exacerbate weak battery issues, the root cause may be a sub par battery. More to come...
The backstory here is that I just changed out my battery (with my parts phone battery) tonight because I was fed up with my phone with half life spontaneously dying on me and I needed to remedy this before Monday. I rely on tech for work, so I rely on my phone beeping with important messages or just getting calls in general when I'm out on service calls, etc. Also, it's very unprofessional to have dropped calls with important clients due to a sporadically dying phone with no warning.
I'm actually trying to drain down the battery as of right now in my phone to see if I get to the 'Low Power Mode' phase or if it dies right out. I have my 'flashlight', YTube videos playing and music player going. I'm leaving this comment in cue until I find out a conclusion of my findings...
.... Final update: Okay, it's been over an hour since I added on to this comment and everything is A-OK. I've finally reached down to 'Low Power Mode' 20% battery and my phone can still hold up to playing music, taking flashed pictured, and using the Flashlight. Seems like it was indeed the battery was the weak link after all. Problem solved.
It is almost like Apple are determined to sabotage older phones on purpose with their OS to try push their owners to upgrade to the newest model. Conspiracy theories. Hahaha. Joke aside I won't be surprised if that is at least 50% true..... Given the number of sudden battery fails and problems I leave it to You to decide.... One advice to those not affected - do not upgrade your OS if you have no issues and if you have mind that it most likely will get worst by upgrading, and read those forums before you decide to do so.
Good luck everyone!
Well my iPad mini 4 is the newest model, for now, and it's affecting me. I'm also watching videos, reading articles, seeing posts about how it's affecting the 6 and 6S and plus models as well as the 7 and 7 plus. Unless they fix this and the other issues, I don't see spending the money on buying the new iPhone 7 Plus.
I had the exact same problem with my 6s and out of some dumb luck I found a solution. If you have the capability turn on wifi calling. Settings>Phone>wifi calling. Don't ask my why it worked but I have checked it several times and it does. When I turn off wifi calling the battery drains to 30% within hours and then the phone shuts off. With it turned on the battery lasts like it used to, all day long. Hope you all have the same results.
How do you get the version 14B150?
I have iPad Air 2 and no wifi calling. Thanks anyway
