iCloud Notes not syncing across all devices

After spending 2.5 hours via online chat and phone with Apple Support today, I've verified all of my settings are correct and my devices are all running the most current software versions.

I've signed out of iCloud and back in to iCloud on all devices, deleted notes app and reinstalled (on iOS only) toggled Notes on and off in iCloud settings over the course of multiple device restarts without success.

I created test notes (device name, time and date) on each device to see if they were syncing, and every test note remained on it's device of origin. I logged in to iCloud.com, and the test note created there populated immediately on all devices.

My affected devices are as follows:

  • iPhone 7 Plus 256 - running iOS 10.1.1
  • iPad Pro 128 - running iOS 10.1.1
  • MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Early 2015) - running macOS Sierra 10.12.1

Apple is aware of the issues, apparently they are receiving plenty of calls about this very issue this afternoon.

They have scheduled a call back with me tomorrow afternoon, hopefully everything is sorted out by then.

I'm using iOS 10.10.1 (I did the second update by iTunes a long time ago).
If I use my major account, the sync (upload) issue happens in my Notes app.
If I use my second account, everything works as should be.

My opinion is that this issue is not happening in our devices. Is an Apple server side issue. All these issues start to happening when the iCloud servers down sometime ago (see the print screen). I noticed this error in Nov 17th, but it starts in Nov 16th according to Apple Servers Status. After two days they "fixed" the issue. But some unlucky accounts were impacted with this Notes sync issue.

I was hoping that iOS 10.2 would fix this issue, but sadly it has not.

I have triend deleting the Notes App from my iPhone 7 and reinstalling it, bit it has not fixed the issue.

I have spent too many hours trying to fix this and I'm fed up with it.

It doesn't help when Apple support promises to contact me in 2 days , yet weeks later I haven't received any contact.

I left 3 notes specific to the devices:

  • OS X note
  • iPhone note
  • iPad note

and left it alone alltogether.

After a week "OS X note" synchronized. So it's working, it just takes a long time XDDD I guess iPhone and iPad notes will come within a month. Maybe I'll just start to send a letters to the devices, my post-office works faster than iCloud XDDD

I spoke too soon in my last post. Fix do not work for me. I tried it twice. Each time it worked for one note (or a short time period?) and then stopped syncing from iMac to iCloud. Syncing from iCloud to iMac continues to work as it did before upgrade to Sierra. Notes on my older laptop, which is on El Capitan, works fine and has never had a problem - so it's definitely a bug in Sierra.

As a said before, it's not an iOS or macOS issue, is a server issue. During my tests with Apple Support team we login in 3 different devices with different iCloud accounts and just mine not worked. My Macbook Pro was working fine until I switch off the Notes in iCloud settings. Probably if you do that in your older laptop, the Notes sync won't work anymore. It's not 100% sure, but is my opinion.

Unfortunately the last status that I had from Apple Support team was that:

  • the Apple Support team send all my logs from my different devices do Apple Engineer team a few weeks ago;
  • I'm still waiting their response;
  • I questioned my contact in Apple Support team if there is some deadline to answer me? The answer was NO! Very frustrating! 😟
    I already tried Evernote, Bear, Google Keep and OneNote. There are pros and cons, but I want iCloud Notes back!
