MacBook Pro (2016) audio problem

Hello,

I'm two weeks into using my new 2016 MacBook Pro w/ touchbar (15 inch) and am having an aggravating issue with the audio output. At some point throughout the day (every day) the audio on the MacBook ceases to work. It usually occurs after waking from sleep. It doesn't matter if I've been using or haven't been using headphones. It just won't work (across every application and with all settings normal in the system pref). The only way to resolve the issue is to log out of my user and log back in or restart the system completely.

Anyone else having this problem?

Same here, MBP 2016, 13'', TB. Seems like coreaudiod somehow gets killed and doesn't get restarted by the system, so sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist && sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.audio.coreaudiod.plist fixes it temporarily (no restart needed).

But yeah, it's really disturbing that Apple didn't address this ASAP, since it's not the cheapest product and the adequate support is supposed to be a big part of what we paid for. 😕

I just figured out part of my problem. This isn't the complete answer, but I feel sort of stupid for not thinking about it sooner. I'm a teacher. I'm connecting to a projector by using Airplay to an Apple TV (previous gen.) which is connected directly to the projector. This is a new setup for me since getting the new Mac. I plugged my old Mac in directly to the projector. I just noticed that the projector is off, so I'm not hearing audio because the Mac is still connected to the Apple TV via Airplay. When I disconnected Airplay, the audio came right back.

However, I've also had this issue at home where there is no Apple TV. I wonder if the computer still thought it was connected since I had just gotten home from school when it didn't work?

Contrary. As the title of the post suggests, this is isolated to the 2016 MacBook Pro. To clarify, this is a new machine, and the problem has existed from the moment it was first unboxed.

Additionally, Apple has recently called me to confirm they are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it. They asked me a bunch of questions which would indicate that I (we) are not the only ones with the problem.

Thanks.
