iCal will not send if location is added to event

The same exact thing is happening for me as well and I have an I phone 6S plus. Very frustrating. While waiting for Apple support I did troubleshooting as well.

I am having the same problem. It does not matter whether the calendar event is created on my MacBook or my iPhone. If there is a location associated with the event the event invitation will not go thru. If there is no location everything works properly. If I logged into my iCloud account using iCloud.com however I can create events with location and the invitations go thru. I called Apple tech support. After logging in and out of iCloud accounts etc and hard resets on the iPhone (even though problem accounts on both phone and MacBook) no progress. Tech was ready to escalate but wanted me to reboot the phone again. She tried calling back while the phone was rebooting and we never connected. Back to the beginning.

Thanks for your quick response. After doing some experiments with my friends the problem seems to be pretty widespread. iPhone 6 user invited me to two events, one with location, one without. I received invite only for the no location event. Please post whatever you find from advanced tech support! Thanks!

My case is being escalated as well. Supposedly going to engineers at this time. Any invitation sent with the location does not get to the invitees. Only when I remove the location will those that are invited receive the invitation.

(And by invitation, I do mean a calendar entry. )

I have just spent some time looking at this problem, trying to troubleshoot setting up a lunch meeting with the family. I had two problems:

1) it wouldn't work if i added a location to the event,

2) it wouldn't work if the word "lunch" was in the title!

"Lunch - 6 Bells" wouldn't send invitations, but "6 Bells" would.

I Then found that if used the Village name, rather than the Pub name in the location it did work..

sounds like a really really weird bug is at play!

i am now having the same issue...tried all the things on this thread...basically problem is simple...since my wife got the new iPhone 7 plus, I noticed it...she can;'t receive my invites in ical when I add a location. she can receive it if I add "call me" in location line item...

Just a comment. I got my iPhone 7 in early October. This problem did not begin for me until early December although oddly that was right after I got my new MacBook Pro so perhaps there is something related to adding new devices to your iCloud account. As I continue to play around with the problem I discovered not only can I not SEND calendar invitations if the event contains a location, I cannot RECEIVE calendar invitations created by other people if they add a location to the event. Anxious to hear from whoever gets to the upper echelons of Apple tech support about the issue!

same with me. also, if the new event name is very long (like takes up three lines, then it won't send either) to the invites

as I review the other invites planners in their calendars after they receive and accept only my invites that have no location, I notice that it says it was accepted not only by them and I am the organizer, but my alias also accepted which is the iCloud.com alias as my apple id is me.com

I am not seeing that with my invites without a location that do go thru. Just curious for all those reading this thread and having this problem do we all have me.com iCloud accounts?
