What happened to my downloaded videos in iOS 10.2?

I updated to iOS 10.2 on my iPhone 6 and seem to have lost my downloaded videos.

Before I would go to the "Videos" app and look under the 'home videos' button but that's not there anymore. It's not in this new "TV" app either. I can't find any of the TV episodes either that I've downloaded from iTunes.

I plugged in my iPhone to my computer and tried to drag them from my iTunes into my iPhone but nothing happened. In iTunes I looked under Devices-IPhone-Movies, and the movies were listed there but I can't actually find them on my iPhone itself (when I used iTunes to look at my iPhone content, TV episodes and home movies that I've previously put on this iPhone now have a circle with an exclamation mark inside next to them).

If I had to just put my TV shows and downloaded home movies on this iPhone again, that would be mildly inconvenient/tedious but doable.

Can anyone help me get my TV shows I've purchased and my home movies back on my iPhone?

I just now figgered it out. I opened iTunes on my PC 64 bit Win 10 Pro

Went to my library. Under the "Movies" section there were no download videos. Under "Home Videos" all of my Videos were there. So as what was said in this forum I changed them to "Movies" The easiest way is to just do one first. Here's how. Right click on the Video then go down to "Get Info" When the next screen opens near the top of that screen in the center there is a tab that says "Options". Click on that. The next screen change the video type to "Movies" Then resync your iPhone / iPad If that works you and can go back to your home movies sceeen in iTunes and do Control A then change all of them at the same time. That worked perfectly for me. All of 150 downloaded videos are on my iPhone 5S. and my iPad Mini 2. If your Wifi is on your home sharing will work as well. Hope that helps

I found that the iPad TV app DOES have a way to show your home movies and connect to iTunes. Touch Library at the bottom and then Library at the top. You might have to wait a few seconds but then you should see Apple iTunes appear in the drop down. Touch there and in a few seconds (up to 10 sometimes for me) you will see Library change to Shared Library. Touch the Shared Library drop down where you can see all of your movies on iTunes. Remember to tun on home sharing in iTunes. I am running an Apple iPad Air 2.

I have not found this on the iPhone app. If anyone finds this please let us all know

I found the solution to this issue. In order to get back all your videos, all video files should be defined as "movies" in the field "media kind" under "options" tab when the "show info" window is activated. Apparently, if the video files are defined as "Home Movies" the new TV app won't show them. Same problem happened a couple of years ago when Videos app was updated in order to reorganize the video files.

Thanks Leonardov. That worked. I changed one video to "Movie" from "Home Video" in iTunes and Synced to the iPad Pro. The video showed up in the TV app while still connected to the network. And now that one video is there the Library menu also now works to show the other non-"Movie" videos. Without having at least one "Movie" synced, the Library menu item was non-functional.

I'm on the latest macOS beta, and am also having a problem syncing home videos to my iPhone running 10.2. iTunes displays the error:

iTunes cannot sync movies or TV shows to the iPhone “xxx iPhone 7 Plus” because the Videos app is not installed.

You must download the Videos app from the App Store on your iPhone in order to sync movies or TV shows.

There's no Videos app to download!

I'm angry as heck! I upgraded my ipad mini 2 to 10.2 unfortunately and my "videos" app completely disappeared along with all my videos! My computer will not be available to use until next Feb. so I cannot sync any. How do I access (where are they? Are they still on my ipad or are they cached somewhere online!) and watch my videos! To be able to watch my "videos" was the main reason I bought this ipad! Is there another video app I can download that will be able to access my videos so I can watch them? Thanks.

I have this problem, too, only on my iPad. When I opened the TV app, under Library, the entire screen was blank. I tried your solution and turned the WiFi off, and it "worked". The videos reappeared. But this is clearly a bug. It's ridiculous that we have to turn off all network connections and do a factory restore just to fix this. With as many apps, songs, videos, and photos I have, this will take practically half a day.
