AirPods disconnects on calls

I have the same problem with my AirPods and iPhone 6s (iOS 10.2). During the call (phone or WhatsApp) they get disconnected but not while listening to music (Apple Music).

I've had 2-3 drops while on calls, and 2 out of 2 times while running listening to podcasts. I also get lot's of clicks and pops using them with Skype and join.me while connected to my MacBook Pro, but no clicks or pops while listening to music from the MacBook Pro.

I have IPhone 6s Plus iOS 10.2 and AirPods disconnected 4 or 5 times during 4 hour call as well as static and crackling noises on regular cell call. I had to reconnect them manually every time.

Apple Watch stays connected at all times. I switched to other bluetooth headphones Momentum 2 Wireless and didn't have any problems during calls.

This points to a problem with AirPods which hopefully Apple will adress soon.

Only phone calls for me as well. Until it is resolved, I can no longer use them for phone calls and $159 device is too expensive for just podcasts or audio books.

I am having the same issue. 6s+ With 10.2. I've been disconnected from several calls. Also, I've heard the disconnect / reconnect sound several times with the AirPods in my ear with no audio playing.

I have same problem with iPhone 6s, disconnects intermittently during calls, no problem when listening to music. Very annoying, contacted Apple Care, they asked me to bring to local store to collect diagnostic data from iPhone. It happens so frequently that I can't believe product testers did not notice it, makes you think if they just rush the product out because of the holiday season.

Strange thing! My iPhone 6S+ was doing random disconnects while on calls using TWO AirPods. I tried a couple of 30+ min calls with ONE AirPod - right on one call and left on another. Both calls completed without disconnecting. Not sure if it's by design or a bug in the BT software. No disconnects with two AirPods listening to music or watching videos, YouTube, Apple radio, etc. go figure!

I just bought these and I bought 2 more for gifts, I am very upset they are not working properly. ALL MY CALLS DISCONECT AND I AM LEFT SPEAKING BY MY SELF. Its so frustrating. THIS IS NOT APPLE QUALITY.

IN chat with apple support, they suggested my to reset network settings and reset Airpods pressing for 15” the back button.

Tried a phone call, seems to work.

I will try long calls later.

Exact same problem, and was able to replicate it in the same way you mentioned.

- Iphone 6S / iOS 10.2

- two airpods on calls will repeatedly drop calls every 30-60sec.

-two airpods never drop connections on music or podcasts.

-one airpod in one ear will never drop call connections.

have been on several calls and have replicated this scenario over and over. Definitely a product hardware or software flaw.

A serious one that must be fixed or these (otherwise great product) will be going back to apple.

Thanks for confirming! It's been two days of "consistent" experience for me. I did register that feedback with Apple last night. I would agree with another post on this thread that we must let Apple developers know about this bug. The more we report this, the more chances they would pay attention to this emerging problem.
