AirPods disconnects on calls

AirPods pair correctly with iPhone 6s Plus (iOS 10.2) and randomly during the call they get disconnected. The BT connection gets lost and I have to connect them again manually.

Happens several times during long calls with no apparent pattern. The AirPods are fully charged.

The strange thing is that while listening to music, this problem doesn't show up, only on phone calls.

OK... So I tried something last night and I've been having some great success today.

Last night I told my iPhone 6S+ to forget my AirPods (in Bluetooth Settings). Then, I restarted my phone and then reconnected my AirPods. This time, it prompted me to hold the button on the back of the AirPod case.

Since then, I haven't had a disconnected call or ANY random disconnection. I've been wearing the AirPods all day today and haven't had any issues. (Even called myself from my office and put myself on hold for 45 minutes... no issues.)

Not sure if is a true fix or if I am just getting lucky today, but I thought I would pass it along.

I too unpaired the AirPods on all devices. Reset network settings on my iPhone (a pain because it looses all wifi passwords). Held the button on the AirPods case for 15 seconds. Then repaired the AirPods. It's been much better so far today, both switching from device to device and no drops yet. The big test is trying them on a 45 minute run. They continually failed this morning, prior to the process above.

I have the same issues. Moreso, I find it inpossible to manually reconnect, because the airpods are just not on the list. Did the reset and everything. The only consustant way to manually reconnect that I found is either double tapping for Siri and cancelling or doing a "respring" holding the power button until you get slide to turn off and after that holding the home button until the screen goes away (the second method works all the time, while the first one only sometimes)

This could have been thr reason for the release delay. Hopefully this is sw and will be fixed soon

Same issue

iPhone 6s Plus

iOS 10.2

AirPods keeps disconnecting while on a telephone call. Seems to be ok with Spotify music / iTunes music.

Tried the recommendation to unpair/pair the AirPods. It worked for one or two phone calls, then the issue came back again. Really frustrating not to be able to hold a phone call on the AirPods.

Have you tried using a single AirPod for the calls? Just wondering if anyone else is having stable connection with a single AirPod. It is still the case for me. No droppped calls with a single pod. Consistently dropping calls with two. I also completed a fresh reload of iOS 10.2 and the iPhone 6S Plus still worked the same. Dropping calls with two AirPods and stable connection on long calls with a single AirPod regardless which ear.

Products in Use: iPhone 6S, iOS 10.2 & AirPods (hardware v1.0.0, firmware 3.3.1)

Carrier Service Used: AT&T

Same issue as others here, AirPods seem to randomly disconnect from iPhone while on a voice call or even when using Facetime/Facetime Audio.

1 Other Minor issue:

Call quality is questionable. All calls have a persistent static "hiss" in the background that both listeners can hear. This does not happen with media content.
