iPhone 7 Plus: Callers can't hear me

Anytime I'm on the phone I can hear the other person fine but they can't hear me. They can only hear me when I have them on speaker phone. My phone is brand new, just got it about 2 weeks ago. I've tried everything to fix it (hard reset, volume controls, etc) and nothing helps. I've tried it in different areas using wifi and using my Verizon LTE network. Same thing. They say my phone sounds like scratching static unless I put them on speaker phone, then it stops. What's going on? :(

I found a solution for my iPhone 7. The OtterBox I was using on my iPhone 6 was blocking the rear microphone, a small black dot next to the camera, in the top left corner. It doesn't appear to be covering it, but it appears to be just enough to block it. I filed the OtterBox down just a bit in that area and it works just fine.

Customer relations are very rude and will not do a thing. It took me almost an hour on hold waiting for someone. They will not upgrade or downgrade. I was rudely told to sell this iPhone and buy an 8 if that’s what I want. So I should be an awful person and sell a messed up phone so someone else has to deal with my issues. Sorry but I have morals and can’t do that. I bought my iPhone 7plus 128 gigs on June 1st and I’m on my now on my 3rd, the 2nd replacement. They do not care. She wouldn’t even listen to what I was saying. She said they will do absolutely nothing for me except exchange like for like until my warranty runs out. I told her it was absolute bs. If there’s so many of us with this issue, then something is wrong. She said they don’t keep info on how many people are having the issue. I asked her how they were going to fix it if they don’t keep records and know that people are having this issue. She had the worst attitude of anyone I’ve ever spoken to at apple. She kept saying “well it’s working fine now so what’s the problem?” The problem is this is exactly what the other 2 did. They worked fine at first, but within a few weeks both went back to the same issue. I’m so upset and now I’m worried over when this will happen again. I have to make several important phone calls every week and need a dependable phone. I feel like I threw away $870. Hopefully I’m worried for nothing and this one will continue to work for as long as I need it, or apple will get their act together and figure out a permanent fix. Between my kids and parents we’ve had a 3GS, 2 4s, a 4S, a 5, a 5S, 3 5Cs, and 4 6Splus. Plus a MacBook Pro, an iPad and several iPods and iPod touches. We’ve never had any issues with any of those, and all still work perfectly(some were traded in when we switched carriers).

UPDATE: I am so infuriated with Apple. Their idea of a fix is for me to give them my BRAND NEW iphone7 plus and they will exchange it for a REFURBISHED iphone 7plus. Seriously??? This is such BS. I REALLY HATE Apple as well as AT&T since I purchased the phone through them. Also, they are charging ME for this exchange. There are no Apple stores near by location so this exchange has to be through the mail and they are charging me $32 to do it!!! The 2nd technician I spoke with said he has had several calls from iphone 7 plus users complaining of this same problem. I will be cancelling my service with AT&T. I will NEVER own another Apple product.
