iMessage Back Button

Is anybody else having a concern with the back button when I am messaging.? I hit the back button, and it does not respond unless I've hit it three or four times. This seems to have occurred on my iPhone ES since I upgraded to the latest version.

Patrick, that is exactly what my Mother's problem was. I saw your post after I made my comment, and had my mother go back in and edit the text back to the standard, and that completely fixed her problem. She had edited the text size to a larger size so that she can see the screen without her reading glasses. As soon as she put it back, it worked perfectly. Thank you!!!

Apple, this is an issue that needs to be fixed. Not everyone has perfect vision, and older people need to adjust the text sizes to help them see. My mother has an iPhone 6+ which is a little easier to see, but my father is still using an iPhone 4.

Ok, I found a solution that worked for me. If you go to Setting>General>Reset>Reset All Settings it will reset to default and then reboot. During the reboot it actually reinstalled or repaired iOS 11.1. So there is a possibility that my original upgrade had a problem but it let me operate anyway. All back functions now work and performance is back to normal.

Hope this works for others.

I have the same issue on iPhone SE iOS 10.3.3. Thanks for the comforting thought that this is not a hardware failure from a defective device. I bought the iPhone SE yesterday, and I installed a drawing app to make sure touchscreen worked, and it did perfectly. I also could reproduce the same failure on my work-phone, which is an iPhone 5s iOS 10.3.2.

My guess is the 'mapping problem' (difference between touchscreen and LCD) is a software bug that could come from apps being developed mainly for the larger screens nowadays, and then converted back to 4.7 inch. This was a thought I had when choosing this smaller sized iPhone SE: in future more and more apps will be designed mainly for large screens.

Me too on an iPhone 6+

Come’on Apple... this appears to be an issue affecting many users... and a problem that should not be hard for Apple to fix. You had it working before.

Here’s a little more info (as if you really need it before you decide to fix the problem or not)... When tapping the back button in a text message conversation the iPhone behaves somewhat like the “edit” button does on the screen listing text message conversations. On my phone I am even able to catch the phone displaying a pop up window that momentarily displays the word “edit” when I tap the back button when in a text message conversation window, yet leaves me (the window/app) still in the context of the text conversation.

Is this another instance where Apple will neglect their existing products to adversely impact their customers in an effort to drive revenue and new product adoption?
