How do I delete the Wallet App from my iphone?

My iphone, with the new update, suddenly had a new app installed entitled "Wallet." This app has my credit card information, plus other personal details, which I never authorized for Apple to use. I have attempted to delete the app using the "touch" system to no avail. There is no way, and I have tried several icloud maneuvers, to delete the credit card or personal information contained in this app.

What's frightening, if I lose my phone, misplace it, or loan it to someone, my credit card information is there for the world to see. I tried to contact Apple, but after literally waiting two hours on the phone, the customer service rep had no answers and then abruptly disconnected me. Do any of you out there know what I can do? This is a horrific invasion of my privacy. Thank you.

The information in the wallet app is not "there for the world to see". It is not broadcast, transmitted or shared with anyone nor any company or service other than the bank or institution that issued your card. In fact, the whole point of Apple Pay via the Wallet App is that your credit card information is kept entirely private. Not even the vendor you're doing business with actually sees or knows your credit card number. It is an anonymous electronic payment method designed specifically to enhance the security of your credit information.

See Apple Pay security and privacy overview - Apple Support in particular this passage:

Once your card is approved, your bank or your bank’s authorized service provider creates a device-specific Device Account Number, encrypts it, and sends it along with other data (such as the key used to generate dynamic security codes unique to each transaction) to Apple. Apple can’t decrypt it, but will add it to the Secure Element within your device. The Secure Element is an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store your payment information safely. The Device Account Number in the Secure Element is unique to your device and to each credit or debit card added. It’s isolated from iOS and watchOS, never stored on Apple Pay servers, and never backed up to iCloud. Because this number is unique and different from usual credit or debit card numbers, your bank can prevent its use on a magnetic stripe card, over the phone, or on websites.

Apple doesn’t store or have access to the credit, debit, or prepaid card numbers you added to Apple Pay. Apple Pay only stores a portion of your actual card numbers and a portion of your Device Account Numbers, along with a card description, to help you manage your cards.

Of course, if you do not use a screen lock passcode on your device, or are in the habit of letting others use it, then anything and everything on it is there for those with access to the phone to see.

I honestly wish this app did not exist. I don't use the app nor do I intend to as I refuse to keep that information on any site for that matter. Plus I can not necissarily protect my info at the moment since my phone has decided to become an ******* and not allow me to use my touch id or the home button for that matter. I have no apple store within a 300 mile radius of me, and I don't think that my phone provider will be able to assist me much. So apart from everything this app is basically just a waste of space like many other required apps.

If you choose to not use it then I don’t understand the anger and angst? The app itself takes up a few megabytes at best - trivial storage space. And if you’re trying to keep your information from “any site” then you’d be better off using it instead of actually giving your credit card number and security code to any online site. Or do you simply never shop online or at any physical store with anything but cash? Apple Pay shares no personal or card information with the vendor at all - that’s the whole point of e-pay systems like ApplePay.

That's the beauty of Android, there are alternatives. Android pay is a better alternative accepted at just as many places and just as, if not more secure than Apple pay. Or if you buy a Samsung phone, you get Samsung pay, which works in places that neither Android pay not Apple pay do. Android is all about choice, iOS is not.

No, you don't have the choice of Apple Pay.

I agree with prostate, regarding the view about an installed app that is not wanted. Personally, I'm not an iPhone user. I

came here because my spouse was asking me how to delete the wallet app. Apparently, from my earlier reading of the

replies in this thread, it's annoying to some. The issue with my spouse is that after a recent iPhone update, the wallet

app has repeatedly begun to ask for population of credit card information. I don't think the empty app wallet presence

is as annoying as is the constant message annoyance from the app.

I don't see why someone that purchases an iPhone is required to accept miscellaneous apps that may, or may not be

wanted/needed. Installation of the app is fine, but the phone owner should be able to remove it at will.

What if I built a new house and discovered late in the construction, that I was somehow obligated to install a pool. My

rejections of the pool construction were ignored, and I had to inhabit the new house with the unwanted pool. At least,

I could remove the pool at will.

You are wrong. The Apple Wallet was first put on my phone around early Dec 2017 along with the most recent update. Which I incidently get way too many of. I did not ask for "Wallet" or do I now want it. There is a setting update which sits on my phone. I did not give Apple my credit card number or authorize them to use it or transfer it to Wallet from wherever they found it.

No Michael I do not use iTunes or would give a CC number along with my Apple ID. There is no reason to. I may of purchased hardware or software at one time from their website. Apple is deleting many of my comments I guess their recent policies have left me very annoyed. They are seriously becoming corrupt. They delted the following comment in reference to someone who said Bicmarck SD come on take a little joke. Bismarck is in North Dakota. Who can trust someone who doesn't understand basic geography.
