iPhone 6 battery drain ios 10.2 problem

Like a lot of people, my iphone 6 was fine until Dec 2016 when I updated my ios. I began getting the 30% battery shut down. Then in Jan 2017 after updating my ios again, it began draining fast. Whereas I normally would have about 85% after getting home from work, now I'm below 50% by lunchtime. This is with my phone basically in my pocket with everything shut off (push, refreshes, notifications, etc.).

I talked with Apple support. They diagnosed my battery as being fine. Told me to do a clean reset and set up my phone as a new phone. I wiped the phone using WiFi and it still had the problem. I then wiped it out again using itunes and after setting it up as a new phone still had the same drain problem.

I've followed every suggestion from Apple links about battery tips. Everything is turned off. Nothing has fixed the problem. Forced to use a battery case now. Only thing left is to replace the battery, but Apple says the battery is fine so how would that fix anything...obviously it's a ios code glitch.

Do I pay $100 for a new battery (that prob won't fix the issue) or wait for another ios update to fix the issue?

Looks like I'm talking to myself (ha), but I have made progress so wanted to post again. Trick seems to be a clean wipe of the phone with it fully charged followed by letting it completely drain down to zero. Let the phone die and then put it on a charger and let it charge to 100% without using it. The 30% problem is gone and the phone seems to be draining slower now. Going to report back in a few days again.

As a followup, I've been using my iphone as a new phone and have not restored it from icloud backup yet. It has drained all the way down and I am charging it back up now. It did not die at 30% but the battery drain issue is still there. The battery percentage jumps erratically, sometimes up a few percentage points. Drains about 3-4 times faster than normal.

Resetting all. Complete wipe of phone. Make sure you have a backup to restore. BUT, I may have spoke too soon. Today my phone drained down to 44%, dropped suddenly to 20%, then shut off. Plugged it in and it began charging from 44%. Draining still seems a little slower to me but it's not back to normal. I fear the only solution is going to be an iOS update to fix the code glitch. Very frustrating.

I have the 6, and have had the same phone since it released almost 4 years ago. My battery dies randomly and can jump from 100 to 70 or lower. I will fall asleep with it on 100% and wake up to it being 84% or anything lower. I've let it die, restarted it, updated, and done research. It's the fact Apple is too cheap to simply fix the problem they created. I'm trying to wait for the 8 because the 7 is the same phone with a few more pixels in the camera. I'm disappointed with Apple the past few years for sure. Not even going into the random charges they apply every month tommy iTunes subscription.

I have been dealing with similar issues and had the same response as you did from Apple Support. I did a complete reset and restore from my iTunes backup and it helped for a few months and now I am back to having the same issues. I am also running the latest version. Now my battering percentage indicator is not synching with my battery, so I no longer have any idea how much battery remains. I will try contacting support by phone and see if I get any different answers and I will report back if I learn something. lol

I'm having similar problems. They battery percent will stay at 100% all day some days. Others it will stay at 100% for a few hours then start going down and some days its fine. Woke up this morning after leaving it charge all night and it says I have no battery and won't turn on. Super frustrating as I am leaving for a trip in 2 days and now have no phone.

Hopefully I am not too late and you have not already left for your trip. If you want to try doing a complete reset and restore of your phone that might work. It helped me for a few months and now it is acting up again. I found that the phone battery percentage is not always accurate so you may be fully charged and then the indicator shows you have nothing. I would try leaving the phone charged as much as possible and maybe getting a backup battery to take with you on your trip.

Just a heads up cos as I see that issue still persists. I had the same problem a few months a go and booked an appointment with the apple support. For those who have the iphone 6 and iOS 10.2 and above the news are bad. I think my phone was running iOS10.2 when I went to the suppot and I was told that there is an issue with the battery management on the iOS which effects all the iphone 6 devices and a few 6s. The only solution was to replace my phone with a new one which its running 10.1. Since then I haven'y upgraded yet. According to Support, the engineers haven't figured out what it causes the issue yet. NOT sure if the 10.3.x will fix the issue but I am not satisfied at all sio far with the phone.

I ended up just going in and having a new battery put in as there wasn't much else to do. I had been charging it as much as possible which was working until that morning when it didn't think it had charged at all and wouldn't turn on. The guy who replaced it said there was a crack in the battery itself when he opened it up so not sure if that was somehow causing the issue. I've barely dropped that phone and it's always in its case and not even 2 years old so disappointed to have to replace the battery already but at least it's working now.

Same problem: iPhone 6 purchased December 2014. Issues started December 2016, about 2 weeks after contract ended. Just that I have never updated to IOS 10. It is still running on IOS 9.3.2. No Apple Store in Luxembourg. In Post office where I bought it, I was told: make a new contract, and take an iPhone 7! I want to wait for next one. My iPhone will, after having charged and with 100% battery life, shut down after 1 - 1,5 hours of medium use. When I start charging it will jump to usually something between 40-70%. Sometimes it is even shutting down still showing 80%. It happened also that after a night of charging it just showed 30%, but 1 hour later showed suddenly 100%. I cannot go anywhere without an extern battery.

I had already the same issue with iPhone 5. For this one nevertheless the battery was exchanged free.
