Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
The latest version of iTunes (12.6.0.95) installed last night and now my mini-player doesn't show the small album artwork like it used to. I can still do Show MiniPlayer Large Artwork. I like having the small artwork in the mini-player, can I get back to that view?

Wouldn't it be nice if Apple actually TOLD us what they were changing? The large artwork is fine but I would have liked a heads up that the small artwork was removed and that the mini play isn't as "mini" as it used to be. I thought I had a bad download until I checked this forum. Typical of Apple to change things and not tell anyone.
In my experience there was bug which resulted in missing artwork with the Mini Player. Maybe they just deleted the feature rather than fix the bug.
This is so annoying. I hate that the mini player is no longer mini. It is HUGE on my screen. And I cannot seem to recover the small album cover. There is just no reason to do this.
I have to agree, huge and ugly. Please tell me this is just a glitch and we're not stuck with it.
The search function on the mini player is now terrible as well. It automatically pops out the large artwork AND moves the miniplayer to a new place on the screen. Rubbish!
its a disaster, i cannot believe my itunes auto updated and im stuck with this new mini player, its terrible
Do us a favor and let us know of any viable alternatives you find. It would really be appreciated. iTunes seems to be circling the bowl, if you know what I mean.
I have the same problem with the close button not showing up on the mini-player. I have to resize the box to get it to show. I am sure this is a bug, please fix. Thanks.
The app "Smashtunes" is a fairly good replacement for the mini player. Certainly worth looking at.

I've found a way to get the small "x" to maximise the mini-player to reappear on my iMac"- if I grab any corner of the mini-player and resize it, the "x" reappears.
Yes - I can live with the new one, but was finding the "missing x" annoying. That seems to have been fixed in the overnight update to 12.6.1.25
If you double click in the upper left corner of the mini player, the X will appear.
