Can't drag and drop safari images to desktop

Hi,

I just updated my version of safari 10.1 and now I suddenly can't drag and drop images to the desktop.

I just keep getting the error report message popup.

OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

Here is a clue...

I am on 27" iMac, late 2015, w/retina, El Capitan, Safari 10.1

Try this and maybe you can make some sense of it...

  1. System Preferences > Displays > Color (my default is iMac)
  2. Change Display profile to Generic RGB Profile (for example)
  3. Now try dragging and dropping in Safari

Were I an Apple engineer I would think I had a good lead here, can anyone shed some light?

Thanks for the news about Safari 10.1.1 Puerto, sounds good! Unfortunately I cannot login (I have not paid Apple the $99 they want for the 'privilege'), but I will keep my eyes open for the update becoming generally available. I noted that you said the (Beta) update works for you- can I ask do you use MAMP? and if so, does this cause any problems? I ask, since this proved to be a major problem for me in upgrading to Sierra/Safari 10.1.

OK, it looks like I can download from the second link, but before I do so, can you or anyone else give any feedback re my question about MAMP and if it works with this Safari update? It's kinda important to me and I cannot afford any more time away from production if there's a problem. Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

I just wanted to let you know that the solution is not working 100%, at least for me. We can drag images from the browser to the desktop, but I can't drag them to other windows of the same browser. I use this function very often between a website and Mailchimp, for creating newsletters, dragging images directly from one website to the Mailchimp web editor. Right now if I try to do that the Mailchimp web warns me that the file I'm trying to insert is not an image.

Maybe this can be solved in the final update.

I can't do it in facebook either, but... it's something I haven't done before, so I don't know if safari was previously able to do it...

Since I usually operate with a single window, I usually drop the images in the desktop and drag to the web I want to use them.

I know some other browsers allow you to even more images between taps... but for me this is fine.

However, if you are sure that it was something possible before, I recommend to get in contact with apple and tell them about it.

OMG, touchMe you are a legend!!!!

Changing large second monitor color profile to generic RGB (for example) worked in an instant!

Four weeks in **** with this issue... with every drag in safari I got that **** pop up.

This is defiantly the issue. I cleared caches, history....and all the other suggestions on the web.

I have a large EIZO monitor and custom color settings seemed to cause me, and only me to crash while others in the studio had never changed from a generic apple RGB color profile.

How did you find this out? My guess is pro users are left to find these mental fixes out for themselves.

Made my week XXX

Thank you!
