iPhone 7, 3rd party lightning-to-headphone adapter stops working with iOS 10.3

I updated the iOS on my iPhone 7 from 10.2.1 to 10.3 this morning. Since that time, the 3rd party Lightning-to-headphone jack adapter I have - which worked just fine before the update - now eventually stops working with a message that "This accessory is not supported by this iPhone." I might get 5-10 minutes of listening before this happens, and I can only recover by restarting the phone. I suspect that there are tighter controls built into the new iOS that limits which accessories can be used (it would be in Apple's financial benefit to do so, so why not?). Just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this and/or if anyone knows of any workarounds. I have an iPad mini running 10.2.1, and I can use this same adapter without issue indefinitely. So, the iOS update definitely has something to do with this change. Thanks all in advance for your help and attention.

You are just copying what someone else says without checking to see if it is true. No, truth and honesty does not bother me at all. Do you think people should be honest? Is counterfeiting other people's work honest? Have you checked the reviews at Best Buy? Have you tried the device? Know anybody who had one?

Yes, I am an apple fan but lately they are loosing some of my trust. I am the definition of an early adopter but when they pull the headphone jack out of their phones and block third party adapters it's frustrating! I get it as a money making model but ******* off customers isn't a great long term money making approach. Make it right apple! Plus they don't need more money off of little stuff like this.

I've been an andriod and pc user forever. Until 13 days ago I had never owned any apple product. I know how proprietary Apple is about their systems. I like the pc world because it's wide open, anyone can make a product and it works on everyone's system. 13 Days ago my android quit. It overheated. So I went to best buy and decided to give Apple a try. I came home with the Iphone 8 and fell in love with it. I immediately lost the headphone adapter so I can't connect my phone to my stereo in my truck. No problem, I thought, I'll just hop over to Amazon and order a new one. Sure enough, there are plenty on Amazon and I found a good deal . Two for 18 bucks and I can charge my phone while using the headphone jack. Today my cords showed up! I plugged it into my phone, plugged my oxtail in to the cord and started to listen to pandora on my car stereo. Yay! It worked! and then it stopped. With a message on my phone that said, "This accessory is not supported by this iPhone". I listened to Pink Floyd for roughly 1 1/2 minutes before the message appeared. So my fears of Apple's insistence that only 'Their' products be used has come true. So this weekend, I will, with a heavy heart, be taking the phone back to Best Buy and exchanging it for the S8 and freedom. I was so impressed by this phone that I was going to buy an iPad this black friday. But I'm going to get a surface pro instead. Thanks, but no thanks Apple.

I also observed same issue with the Iphone 7 plus under IOS11. However, there is an alternative solution apart from restarting the phone once it issues the warning of incompatibility. You can try unplugging and then plugging again the Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter instead of restarting phone and it works fine. Though a very inconvenient and impractical solution, also prone to damage the lightening connector after excessive use 😟
